One of the latest battle royale games to try to get a piece of the market, Ubisoft’s Hyper Scape has so far struggled to find a sizable audience, partly due to the huge success of Fall Guys. However, Ubisoft is not giving up, releasing a new game mode for Hyper Scape that could potentially convince lapsed players to give the game another chance, and may draw more people to the battle royale in general.
The new Hyper Scape game mode is called Faction War, and it’s available in the game for a limited-time. The Hyper Scape Faction War trailer description has placeholder text in place of where the end date for the mode will be, so it’s possible that Ubisoft itself hasn’t decided how long it will stay in the game. Regardless, those that check it out will experience a team-based take on Hyper Scape, with four teams of 24 battling it out on the BR map.
The Hyper Scape Faction War mode is similar in concept to things like Fortnite‘s Team Rumble mode, albeit with smaller team sizes. It remains to be seen how the Hyper Scape community will react to this new mode, but if nothing else, it will give them something fresh to try while they level up their Season 1 Battle Pass.
In future, Hyper Scape fans can expect even more new content to be added to the battle royale game. Other limited-time modes are almost assuredly in the works, plus the developers have confirmed that Hyper Scape is getting cross-play at some point down the line. Future updates may also address some of the criticisms that fans have for the game, which could in turn make it an overall better experience that is able to draw more players.
Hyper Scape reviews have been mostly negative according to review aggregate sites, as the game has struggled to truly stand out in the increasingly-crowded battle royale market. However, many online multiplayer games have started out rough and had massive comebacks later on, and there’s no reason Hyper Scape can’t do the same, especially with a company as big as Ubisoft behind it.
In fact, some may recall that Rainbow Six Siege had a pretty slow start, earning middling reviews when it first launched. But Ubisoft has continued to support the game with regular content updates, and it is now one of the top esports games in the world. There’s no reason why the same can’t be done for Hyper Scape.
Hyper Scape is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
