Twin Modern Warfare Pros Say Warzone and Pro Play Have Something Big in Common

Ahead of the upcoming Call of Duty League Championships, Game Rant had the unique opportunity to sit down with twin brothers Bradley and Matthew Marshall, better known as Wuskin and Skrapz, two star players for the London Royal Ravens CDL team. The brothers shared their favorite Warzone weapons with us and also gave a lot of great advice that can help any player improve their game in both Modern Warfare and Warzone. However, some questions about the thrill of pro-level competition led to a few interesting opinions about the merits of Warzone as well.

Wuskin and Skrapz have both been playing professional level Call of Duty for years, each separately earning the title of CWL Pro League All-Star before they joined together to play for the London Royal Ravens. Outside of pro play, they also both stream their online antics for eager audiences, often playing Warzone together after practices, so one of the first things we wanted to know was how they separate work from play.

Wuskin answered that, nowadays, it’s almost impossible to play just for fun: “As mad as it sounds, any game I go into, someone knows who I am… I have to sit up straight away… but I enjoy it anyways, even if we’re having it out, it’s always fun.” With a reputation always on the line, competition is always fierce. Of course, these two wouldn’t be pros if they didn’t love the thrill of an all-out battle. Naturally, that led into our next question: What’s the most fun the twins have had playing Modern Warfare?

This could be the worst game in the world and the feeling of going to an event, just going in and showing up, that feeling will never ever change. That feeling is unreal.

Later on, Skrapz said almost the exact same thing when asked what he was looking forward to most about Call of Duty championships: “The feeling of just competing, the fact that we’re playing for millions, that’s motivation.” Of course, the feeling of entering a massive tournament is not something that every player can feel, so we followed up with the next natural query: What’s the closest a player can get to that feeling without being a professional?

Wuskin mentioned that there are plenty of small tournaments open to any team of players, many of them welcoming to amateur players. He was of the opinion that entering into any such tournament with a team of close friends would offer something like the excitement of a bigger competition. Skrapz, however, pointed out that Warzone is an even more accessible way to get the same kind of energy out of even a relatively casual game.

[In Warzone,] just loading into a game with three of your mates and winning a game- I like those moments and my enjoyment kicks up even outside of pro play.

The twins then pointed out that they play Warzone together practically every night, and that it has many of the same qualities as a high-stakes tournament. Close-knit team play is always the key to victory, and taking the final win means beating out every other team until the match culminates into a final, climactic battle with everything on the line. Countless fans of battle royale know that feeling, but it’s quite gratifying to hear pro players confirm that the thrill of a hard-fought win is so accessible. The two went on to detail their favorite weapons for Warzone and gave some pro tips for boosting performance, but with the Call of Duty League Championships fast approaching, the twins and the London Royal Ravens are preparing for it.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
