Grounded Teases Update, Coming Sooner Than Expected | Game Rant

Obsidian Entertainment’s backyard survival game Grounded has gained a ton of popularity since its release for early access on July 28th. Obsidian previously announced that in order to improve the game before the full release, Grounded will have monthly updates starting on August 28th. Now, in a video teasing the update’s new content, Grounded will be receiving the first monthly update a little sooner than previously announced.

The video features a few clues to what could be included in the next update. Players may notice sprig fences, which is a whole new creatable item that will be added with the update. Another hint for upcoming content is a large Oreo cookie and a large footprint seen in the video. This could point to a more prominent role of the house’s residents in the backyard. The cookie and footprint could also hint at new missions that may reveal more information about the situation the teens are trapped in.

Although the video does not reveal much about the update, the addition of sprig fences means that the crafting capabilities are expanding. There is a ton of potential content that could be added with the update. Giant humans, new bugs, locations or items could be very exciting additions to Grounded, however players will have to wait till August 26th to find out.

Grounded will now be updating two days earlier on August 26th and will be released along with a developer vlog and a livestream. The update change begs the question if the updates will follow the same schedule with updates now happening on the 26th every month or if the dates will be subject to change. Grounded also recently released a patch that addressed bugs and fixed compatibility issues. With monthly updates, it is expected that Grounded will have its share of patches to fix any problems with the many updates.

Many update requests from players include taming insects and adding more terrifying aspects like different spider species or hostile insects. Although spider interactions can be fun for adrenaline-seeking players, developers have gone the opposite way by providing an arachnophobia mode for players who find the spiders too terrifying.

Despite still being in-development, Grounded is already an impressive game with a unique take on the survival genre. With Grounded receiving the first monthly update soon, players will see how much the update evolves the game throughout its early access run. Grounded has become very popular early on, amassing over 1 million players in the first two days. It is safe to say many players will be watching the update closely.

Grounded is available on PC and Xbox One, and will release on Xbox Series X later.
