The second week of the Solstice of Heroes event in Destiny 2 is in full swing as players continue to progress their special armor and defeat enemies in the EAZ. While the event itself isn’t without flaws, Bungie has thankfully corrected a number of issues with this week’s hot fix. The big change is that the weekly EAZ challenges have not only been restored, but it should be issuing a powerful reward as expected. In addition a bug preventing Bright Dust from being awarded from Weekly and Repeatable Solstice bounties has also been corrected.
However, this week also brought a ton of clarity with Bungie’s Content Vaulting plans as well. In it’s latest blog post, Bungie broke down all of the modes, content, maps, activities, and items being stored in the vault. The studio also answered a number of big questions such as exotic quests and gear tied to locations being vaulted. Thankfully, the studio is creating a new kiosk in The Tower that exclusively houses legacy exotic items. Bungie hasn’t shared how players will be acquiring these items, but fans should expect more information soon.
Until then, the weekly exotic merchant Xur has returned to the world of Destiny 2 for another few days. Follow this guide for his location as well as a review of what he’s currently selling for the weekend of August 21, 2020.
Over the next few days, players can find Xur hanging out in the Winding Cove of the European Dead Zone.
Fast travel to the Winding Cove zone and immediately head towards the back where the Fallen typically patrol. Climb the cliffs back here to find Xur standing on a ledge not too far from a crashed ship.
As he’s been doing for the past few weeks, Xur is no longer selling collection rolled gear. The armor he now has features randomized stats and perks, which should revitalize player interest in what the merchant has each week. In addition, players can use an Exotic Cypher to purchase a second fated engram from the merchant.
Here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:
Astrocyte Verse – Warlock helmet
Unlike the other two items on sale this week, Warlocks are seeing one of the more rarely seen items with Xur this weekend. The Astrocyte Verse helm is a solid movement focused exotic, similar to the St0MP-EE5 Hunter Boots or Lion Rampant Titan Boots.
It’s exotic perk is called Move to Survive and it allows Blink Warlocks to use the jumping motion more frequently and at a further distance. In addition, weapons ready quicker out of Blink and the Radar remains active. Obviously, this isn’t going to be a top tier exotic piece for warlocks as there are much better combat oriented armor. Still, for players who like using blink and need a bit of help with platforming focused activities in Destiny 2, this one is worth a look even with it’s okay stats roll.
Void Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +15
- Resilience +9
- Recovery +7
- Discipline +7
- Intellect +14
- Strength +8
Young Ahamkara’s Spine – Hunter gauntlets
Young Ahamkara’s Spine is back on sale with Xur after having just been featured at the end of June. Since then, not much has changed. A neutral class exotic, it really only benefits players who enjoy using tripmine grenades. It comes with an exotic perk called Wish-Dragon Teeth, which increases tripmine grenade duration and blast radius. Better yet, any damage done with the ability returns bonus tripmine grenade energy.
Again, the perk can be useful but overall, the exotic gear isn’t valued as highly as some other Hunter gear. It’s hard to recommend this week but under the right circumstances, these gauntlets can really come in handy.
One again for a second week in a row, the Hunter’s have the highest rolled item this week as 65.
Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +9
- Resilience +17
- Recovery +7
- Discipline +10
- Intellect +12
- Strength +10
Eternal Warrior – Titan helmet
The unique looking Eternal Warrior helm is back in stock again with Xur. From a gameplay perspective, it’s specifically aimed at Striker Titans as its intrinsic perk Resolute gives the player an overshield after Fists of Havoc is activated.
While a cool looking exotic item, it’s ability just really isn’t as impactful as others available to Titans. An overshield is always helpful but it’s not likely going to turn the tide in any significant way. Definitely not a top tier item, but not a terrible one to have either.
Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +10
- Resilience +8
- Recovery +14
- Discipline +10
- Intellect +10
- Strength +11
At one point, the Lord of Wolves shotgun was one of the most used weapons in the game thanks to a bug that caused the weapon to basically just melt enemies. While Bungie let the gun run wild in Crucible a little longer than it would have liked, the gun is no where near as fearsome as it once was. Even still, it remains a strong close quarters weapon and is worth a look for those who don’t yet have it.
Its Intrinsic perk is called Shrapnel Launcher which causes the gun to fire a powerful short-range burst of solar damage. However, its trait called Release the Wolves is what really enhances this weapon’s potency. Players that hold the reload button can swap to a longer, more powerful burst.
Additional perks:
- Chambered Compensator
- Extended Mag
- Composite Stock
Here’s the complete rundown of Xur’s entire stock in Destiny 2 for August 21, 2020:
- Astrocyte Verse (Warlock helmet) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Young Ahamkara’s Spine (Hunter gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Eternal Warrior (Titan helmet) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Lord of Wolves (Shotgun) – 29 Legendary Shards
