It has been a year since Little Nightmares 2 was revealed at Gamescom, with Geoff Keighley announcing today that the upcoming sequel will get its first full gameplay demonstration at the same event where it first appeared. Taking place after the original, standout puzzle-platformer, the next game in the Little Nightmares series promises plenty more terrifying encounters and can next be seen during Gamescom Opening Night Live.
This time around, players will take control of a boy named Mono, with the goal of shutting down a signal tower that is further damaging the already dark world of Little Nightmares. Shutting down the tower will also save Six, the memorable protagonist from the original game who is said to be “fading from the world” in the game’s description.
The description of Little Nightmares 2 also hints at some of the new threats Mono and his guide Six will face, including a sadistic Teacher and Hunter. Both of these enemies sound terrifying, and coming across them can easily lead to some tense encounters like the one with the Chef in the first game. It will be interesting to see how differently Mono plays from the yellow raincoat-wearing Six as well, as Mono’s appearance is certainly unique from Six’s. Perhaps this upcoming Gamescom demo will give an indication of just how the two characters differ in terms of gameplay.
The original Little Nightmares is a fun, tense game with an unforgettable world, and can easily be considered one of the best modern horror games. Based on the original reveal trailer, Little Nightmares 2 should be no different. Gamescom Opening Night Live will be an exciting night for those interested in the game, possibly even providing a bit more information as to what exactly is going on within the story of Little Nightmares 2.
Little Nightmares 2 is in development for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
