It appears as though Call of Duty: Warzone will be adding a Zombies mode in a future update. As revealed by frequent Call of Duty franchise leaker ModernWarzone, Call of Duty: Warzone‘s files now contain references to new, unannounced game modes, and Zombie Royale is one of them.
Dataminers have quickly dug through the Call of Duty: Warzone update that was released late last night/early this morning. The Season 5 Reloaded update adds a slew of exciting new content for Call of Duty: Warzone fans to check out, including a brand new LMG, but the new modes mentioned in the files may be of even more interest to fans. In total, four new Call of Duty: Warzone game modes have leaked, with Zombie Royale joined by a mode that will either be called Pandemic/Outbreak, Armored Cargo/Truck Wars mode, and Plunder: Fire Sale.
The Pandemic/Outbreak mode sounds like it will be an Infection variant for Warzone, whereas Armored Cargo/Truck Wars will likely focus on vehicular combat. Plunder: Fire Sale, meanwhile, will likely be a new Plunder variant where shops are set to Fire Sale prices, meaning everything will be incredibly cheap. However, actual details on these new game modes have yet to be revealed, and it’s always possible that they won’t actually make it into the final game, so fans should keep that in mind.
While Call of Duty: Warzone‘s Zombie Royale and the other leaked modes are arguably the most interesting bits of information from the leak, new standard multiplayer modes were also leaked for Modern Warfare as well. This includes Shiptember to Shootmember, a new playlist that consists entirely of Shipment and Shoot House, and will reportedly be available in the game for an entire month. The other leaked mode is Realism Ground War Reinforce, with Ground War Reinforce itself being a new Ground War variant that was just added in the latest update.
With Activision having already released the bulk of the Warzone Season 5 content that was promised, it’s unlikely that fans will see these new modes this season. A much more likely scenario is that these modes are being saved for Warzone Season 6, whenever that may be. Warzone Season 6 will likely take place at least partially in October, which would make a Zombie Royale mode make a lot of sense, as it could coincide with Halloween.
Not only that, but Black Ops Cold War is expected to launch in November, and since the Black Ops series is known for its Zombies mode, it makes sense for Warzone to embrace it as well. After all, Infinity Ward has said that Warzone will be a “constant” for future Call of Duty games, and so the battle royale will likely adopt content from every new CoD released each year.
Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
