Nintendo has been on a roll with surprise reveals this month. Following last week’s Indie World Showcase, where several of the announced games launched on the Switch the very same day, Nintendo dropped an entire surprise Nintendo Direct Mini this morning, wherein it was announced that World of Tanks Blitz is now available for Switch.
World of Tanks continues to be one of the more popular free-to-play multiplayer games out there, and a lot of its popularity is due to Blitz, its mobile-friendly offshoot. Although it downscales the visuals and player count to fit lower-end devices, it still maintains the strategic depth of Wargaming’s main game (and with the added benefit of taking up far less storage space), making for one of the best free-to-play co-op games that can be played right now.
Nintendo fans now have access to over 350 tanks, more than 25 maps, and a variety of in-game events. A special bundle is also being given out to commemorate World of Tanks Blitz’s Switch launch, offering players 1,000 Gold, 3 days of Premium Account, and a Tier 2 medium tank until September 9. What’s more, Wargaming says players with existing Wargaming.net accounts will be able to access those accounts from the Switch and retain their progress.
“World of Tanks Blitz is the very first Wargaming title to launch on a Nintendo platform, unveiling its signature tank gameplay to even more gamers around the world,” said Andrey Ryabovol, the game’s Product Director, in a press release. “Launching on the Nintendo Switch is a perfect match for us, since the platform’s on-the-go gaming ability and impressive graphic fidelity fit the game’s playstyle and audience.”
World of Tanks Blitz is free-to-play for Mobile, PC, and Switch.
