Nintendo Becomes The Richest Company in Japan | Game Rant

Nintendo has seen plenty of success within the gaming industry over the years, with its consoles appealing to many and its games incorporating a signature style. Originally a toy company, Nintendo quickly adapted to arcade trends and in many ways revitalized the home console market after the fall of Atari in the 80s. Since then, the company has released some of the most popular consoles ever alongside games that have managed to produced a lasting legacy. It seems this continued effort and success has been rewarded as the company is now the wealthiest in Japan.

Despite some bumps in the road, it seems that Nintendo has paved its way to success by using its acclaimed franchises and characters. Nintendo had a cash flow of 890.4 billion yen last fiscal year according to the ranking company NetCash which calculates elements such as cash, debts, and corporate bonds. Nintendo had been number two in Japan the previous year so it is not too surprising to see them climb again after a successful year. However, this is a huge achievement and the company bested Shinetsu Chemical Industry by 80 billion yen and other companies like Seven & i Holdings. Interestingly Bandai Namco Holdings also reported a great deal of wealth and placed 18th in this list of companies.

The future also looks bright for the company as Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been one of the most successful games of the year and the Nintendo Switch has sold well since its initial release. It will be interesting to see how this commercial achievement is built upon but it seems that the company is in a good position to tackle new challenges.

There are plenty of games coming from Nintendo and this may boost the profits of the company further in the foreseeable future. With that said, according to this report, the company could financially stay afloat with 40 years worth of savings if Nintendo products no longer appealed to fans. It is unlikely that this will happen but the employees at the company will be glad that during an unstable time there is reassurance that the company is in a good position to continue its game and console production.

The new generation of consoles may present new challenges for Nintendo, but at the moment it seems the company has carved out its niche that has attracted a huge amount of fans. Nintendo, and its players, will hope that this success continues on the back of this major achievement.
