Resident Evil 4 Remake in ‘Worrying Position,’ Says Leaker

Earlier this year, numerous sources made the claim that Capcom was developing a Resident Evil 4 remake. However, with a planned release date of 2022, no official information on the title is expected to come for some time. But while Capcom isn’t expected to reveal anything about the Resident Evil 4 remake for at least another year or longer, a frequent Resident Evil franchise leaker has alluded to the game having some kind of development trouble.

AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem, is known for their accurate Resident Evil franchise leaks. On August 28, they tweeted out a number of claims about the game industry, stating that Resident Evil 8 will “most likely be great,” that the Silent Hill PS5 project is still in the works, something Shenmue will be announced within the next couple of weeks, there will be a PS5 event in the first half of September, and that a Monster Hunter game is coming to the Switch. However, AestheticGamer also said that “RE4 is in a bit of a worrying position right now.”

As one might expect, this comment drummed up some interest from Resident Evil fans who are curious about why the Resident Evil 4 remake is supposedly in a “worrying position.” However, AestheticGamer declined to elaborate further, instead stating that the focus should be on Resident Evil 8 right now and that the RE4 remake leaked too early.

Beyond it being in development, there isn’t really much else known about Resident Evil 4 remake, so it’s hard to really guess what AestheticGamer is referring to. The only other tidbit has been the suggestion that the Resident Evil 4 remake will ditch tank controls in favor of a more modern control scheme, which is a decision that will likely please some fans and upset those who are RE4 purists.

Unless AestheticGamer or another leaker decides to share more information on the Resident Evil 4 remake, it’s unlikely that fans will hear much more about the game for quite some time. However, there should be some new Resident Evil 8 information revealed sooner rather than later, as it was previously reported that Capcom planned on sharing more news on the game at some point soon. Maybe it will even take place at the rumored PS5 September event; RE8 was originally revealed during the PS5 games showcase event back in June, after all.

Besides video games, there’s even more for Resident Evil fans to look forward to within the next couple of years. Netflix has confirmed that a Resident Evil TV series is in production at the streaming service giant, with the show apparently following the story of antagonist Albert Wesker’s children.

The Resident Evil 4 remake is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
