Call of Duty: Warzone Data Reveals Most Popular Equipment

Since the massive release of free to play battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone, players have worked hard to find the best strategies to win. As such, there has seemingly been a constant meta within Warzone when it comes to equipment, and today’s data confirms that to be the case.

While thermal scopes have lost a bit of steam in the recent months, the functionality of equipment has not been changed too much in Call of Duty: Warzone. As such, the dominant pieces of equipment have remained strong since the early days of the mode’s release. While the FINN LMG now dominates the weapon category, the most popular equipment is a bit surprising.

According to stat-tracking website Lootshare, it turns out that C4 is in first place, which is surprising given that heartbeat sensors seemed to be used by just about everyone. According to the data, however, sensors are used by 71% of Warzone players while C4 is used by 80% of Warzone’s huge player base. From there, a steep drop-off in the pick percentages can be seen, so players can expect to encounter lots of C4 and heartbeat sensors during Modern Warfare’s Games of Summer event.

The middle-of-the-road equipment is stun grades, which sit in third place at 18.4%, and Semtex which drop all the way down to single digits at 5.4%. It is crazy to see a 50% difference in pick rates between the second and third place equipment items, showing just how dominant C4 and heartbeat sensors really are in the meta. Frag Grenades round out the top five at 4.1%. It will be interesting to see if these tacticals are changed like Warzone’s train may be, though it is unlikely given how long they’ve held the top spot.

The less effective flashbang grenade sits at a measly 2.2%, while the pick rate for Molotov cocktails comes in at 1.4%. Throwing knives are where they belong at 1.9%, as a two hit kill on an armored enemy makes them relatively useless in the endgame of Warzone. Smoke grenades do slightly better at 3%, though this number is surprising. It is a bit odd to see them this low, as one would think they would be great for reviving or flanking enemies in the mode. They are certainly useful in Plunder, as they allow for safer looting of the money crates that drop from the sky.

Finally, the bottom of the list sees a battle between the gas grenade and snapshot grenade. Easily the two most useless pieces of equipment in the game, the former does no damage whatsoever and the latter is a noisier, less effective version of a heartbeat sensor. Their positions are not surprising, and they sit at 1% and .8% respectfully. Overall, the ranking proved interesting and should give Warzone players a good idea of what they will be facing in some popular enemy loadouts.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
