The launch of Marvel’s Avengers is just a week away with a new CG trailer released to celebrate. Meanwhile, developer Crystal Dynamics has been hard at work addressing some particular issues in the game after some fan feedback.
Ahead of the release, Marvel’s Avengers has received three beta testing sessions for fans to ensure the game was at its best when officially released. Some major initial concerns were regarding repetitive enemies in the beta, which Crystal Dynamics addressed with the promise of more variety as players progress through the game. The beta also provided some major gameplay feedback for the developer from those who participated and the developer took all the concerns to heart.
Those who participated in the final beta may have noticed several options regarding visual feedback. A quick look in the options menu would show the ability to adjust camera shake during key moments, which occurs frequently while playing as the Hulk. Many fans took issue with the amount of camera shake, making it difficult to figure out what was going on on-screen. Marvel’s Avengers now has a slide to adjust the amount of shake so that fans can find a middle ground that’s easier on the eyes yet still shows the impact of key moments in the game.
In addition, players should now notice a difference in the motion blur that triggers during gameplay. Particularly noticeable during major movement like sprinting or jumping, Crystal Dynamics has toned it down significantly. The developer has also done some fine tuning to the game addressing some minor grievances such as less of a delay when obtaining loot drops, easier vaulting over objects, and Dynamic Screen Resolution should be properly implemented for those who have ultra wide monitors on PC.
The beta also revealed some info on upcoming characters that will be added to Marvel’s Avengers post launch. Data mining has uncovered character calling cards and their respective battle passes. The calling cards referred to characters like She Hulk, War Machine, and Kate Bishop eventually being added to the game along with the the previously leaked Captain Marvel. Of course this includes Spider-Man for PlayStation 4 owners, who was previously officially revealed by Sony.
The reveal of the battle pass has caused some concern among fans. Though common in modern games like Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Call of Duty, the battle pass system in Marvel’s Avengers involves a unique one for each hero. With the expectation of a lot of time being invested in the game to unlock skins and emotes for the team, some fans feel like this may be a money grab as micro transactions will help speed the process.
Marvel’s Avengers is getting closer to its launch date but the next stop for the Avengers will be a final War Table event held on September 1st. The War Table is expected to reveal a new playable character in the game along with post launch content plans. In addition, its expected that Crystal Dynamics will address further concerns from fans after 3 rounds of beta testing.
Marvel’s Avengers Launches on September 4th on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X soon after.
