Mods are an excellent way to breathe life into an old game. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was released back in 2006, but that isn’t stopping its fans from continuing to create content for the game via modifications.
Modder “Kuzja80” has just released a 19.5GB HD texture pack for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The results are gorgeous, and something that any Oblivion fan should be interested in giving a try.
Kuzja80 used Cuda, Pytorch, and his own custom work to create the HD texture mod, as opposed to AI techniques. The result is seamless textures and beautiful visuals. Recently fellow modder RainaAudron created an HD Legacy of Kain mod, it is interesting to see the two use different methods in their mods for equally impressive results.
Even with the game being nearly 15 years old, Oblivion is the favorite Elder Scrolls game for many. Between Skyrim, Morrowind, and Oblivion (arguably the top three for most fans), each title takes a slightly different approach to gameplay and storytelling, but each offers something unique for players. For anyone who plays Oblivion to this day, the Kuzja80 mod should be an instant download. But for those who haven’t played for a while, it could be a great reason to come back.
There are countless reasons to love Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and now this mod gives even more. Many hope that Oblivion is eventually remade and remastered from the ground up. That time could certainly come at some point, with games like Skyrim being resold and ported many times, but for now, this HD mod of Oblivion is a wonderful stand-in.
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is available now on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
