Fall Guys: 10 Mistakes Players Make That Result In A Loss

Thanks to Mediatonic‘s Fall Guys, gamers can now partake in insane Takeshi’s Castle-level puzzles in a quest to dominate an obstacle course game show. Moreover, outside the game’s cheerful premise, a ton of players want to reign supreme across the game’s 20-plus puzzles. Unfortunately, this feat isn’t as easy to achieve as they think. After all, Fall Guys players also play against time, other sadist players, and, well, their stubby-footed, easy-falling avatars.

However, Fall Guys fans know there exist many ways to even out the odds. For instance, aside from knowing how to move and when to do it, players can avoid elimination by steering clear of certain rookie mistakes. In fact, there might just be a way to bypass that pesky Fall Guy blocking the three-pipe path in front of players. Thankfully, this list has some red flags Fall Guys players need to steer clear from:

10 Don’t Play It Like A Racing Game

Like other obstacle course shows, Fall Guys throws in everyone against the same obstacles where only a few qualify for the next round. Of course, this factor means Fall Guys essentially transforms into a racing game. Unfortunately, this strategy doesn’t work most of the time.

Charging head-first gives the round’s obstacles all the opportunities to punish the player. Moreover, people who go in too fast might end up bumping into the wrong door, falling off the wrong tile, or be squished by some barrier. Instead, players should slow down and watch how people ahead of them “test” the obstacles in front of them. If they succeed, then copy their strategy!

9 Don’t Forget The Patterns

Players new to Fall Guys know they’ll likely “understand” the gist of the game after the first few fails. And that’s normal! In fact, one of the best ways to master the game is to fail with a purpose. Players who try new strategies and remember those that work can help them intuitively adjust their tactics. This strategy becomes integral in games such as Tip Toe, where players who can’t react fast enough to the falling tiles end up losing.

In fact, some players may realize that jumping towards a fake tile and then diving towards the right tile can help lead them to victory. And sometimes, knowing the pattern lets players bluff their enemies into picking the wrong choices.

8 Don’t Forget Your Speed

Thanks to the wonky physics of Fall Guys, players can fal and tumble when hit at the right angle. As such, rounds with multiple obstacles might force the player into bumping out of control and into defeat. In these levels (such as Jump Club) players should remain mindful of the speed they use when traversing the map.

Ideally, players should test whether an obstacle becomes easier when they approach it just slow enough before traversing past it. In Jump Club, players can jump over the spinning bars easier if they slow down and check on their timing.

7 Don’t Hesitate To Rotate

Players who stop mid-match open themselves to enemies who can grab them, hurl obstacles at them, or lose time to secure their victory. However, players can soon find themselves in a chaos of colors and movement with no idea where to go next. Regardless if players are novices or pros, they shouldn’t hesitate whenever they feel the need to pause and rotate the camera. After all, doing this move even for a split-second can give players an idea where everyone is and what’s currently happening.

A lot of people often go gung-ho and end up losing precisely because of a lack of battle awareness. For instance, in Survival Mode, players should use rotate to get a general idea of where each fruit platform is. Moreover, in races, players can use this opportunity to see just how far ahead they are.

6 Don’t Forget The Dive

Unlike other obstacle course shows, Fall Guys plays as though gamers have to wear bean costumes with stubby feet in a world with wonky physics. Thankfully, the game compensates with a handy jump mechanic. And whenever jumping isn’t enough, players shouldn’t forget about the dive. In essence, diving allows players to suspend themselves in mid-air for a fraction of a second before diving headfirst onto their destination. Of course, this move results in a bit of a delay, but this delay may be all the time they need to survive.

Moreover, diving becomes very useful in platform-intensive challenges. For instance, players can exploit the diving mechanic in Tip Toe in order to quickly change their tile destinations. Oftentimes, a jump that seems too “far” might need a dive instead.

5 Don’t Play For First Place

Players who have a knack for racing will love the rush of winning first place in Fall Guys. Unfortunately, they have to accept the reality that this doesn’t happen all the time. Moreover, with the way obstacles are set, the game actually actively punishes people who rush in just to get first place.

As such, it’s more practical for players to actually play their cards right and progress – slowly, but not to a halt. Moreover, players should use this time to study the stage’s many obstacles.

4 Don’t Stick Too Close

No one can deny it, it’s fun showing enemies how players just “beat” them. However, staying too close to the crowd all the time can spell danger. For obvious reasons, enemies can use this opportunity to grab players and steer them in the wrong direction. Moreover, the “tide” of Fall Guys running to one direction can drag the player along to the wrong door or path.

Instead, players should keep an eye out for everyone but at a reasonable distance. Going too far brings attention to them, and being too near leaves them vulnerable. Players should have just enough ground to traverse, stop, and speed up and remain safe. Plus, being in a crowd might block the player’s view from important things happening – like that upcoming obstacle!

3 Don’t Avoid The Obstacles

If players set their sights on the finish line, the goal becomes “avoid obstacles” such as falling balls, spinning bars, or bashing hammers. This logic makes sense, as getting hit by these obstacles often adds precious time players could use to get to the finish line. However, sometimes certain stages encourage players to exploit these obstacles to improve their performance. Of course, this strategy often depends on timing and positioning.

For instance, players saw that being hit by bars or hammers might actually propel them forward much faster. Of course, this advantage doesn’t mean players should just lie low and let the obstacles do the work. If they time their hit and recovery correctly, they’d be traversing through rounds much faster in no time.

2 Don’t Get Too Confident

Perhaps most importantly, players shouldn’t get too confident in the middle of a match. Until they’re sure of qualification, players should always believe they might still lose the round. Unfortunately, players tend to get overconfident when they have a huge lead in games such as Fall Ball, Hoarders, or even Egg Scramble. However, this overconfidence usually encourages the winning side to get lax, and this moment of weakness can become the opportunity for the losing side to win.

As such, players should know when to get aggressive and when to secure the defense. For instance, in team-based matches, players in the lead should do everything to avoid the opponents to score. This advice might seem overkill, but better to secure a complete win.

1 Don’t Get Too Nice

Players know “That Guy” – that dreaded Fall Guy standing on their way, ready to grab them and throw them off a cliff. Others play Fall Guys to become that jelly bean person everyone wants to strangle. However, players may use the grabbing mechanic to their advantage in a lot of situations. In the aforementioned example, players can strategically grab opponents to go first or even push them to obstacles.

Likewise, players can grab onto ledges to avoid falls or even grab onto various objects to secure them. Players who time their grabs properly will have a deadly arsenal on their hands. As a plus, players can just forget about winning and just throw everyone off the stage!
