Chivalry isn’t dead, it’s just delayed.
The sequel to the popular multiplayer medieval warfare title has been pushed back into 2021, developer Torn Banner Studios has announced.
Chivalry 2, which is now due to land on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC simultaneously, is a first-person slasher with a focus on PvP and large scale skirmishes.
“We believe this updated timeline is necessary to allow Chivalry 2 to be the greatest game it can be,” says the developer in a message on the game’s site.
Torn Banner Studios has been working on a “revamped, faster, and more fluid combat system” after feedback from the first game showed players wanted something a little more responsive in their medieval warfare.
Whilst we’ll be seeing that new combat system arrive in time for release, the studio notes that – sadly – horses won’t make it to the battlefield in time for the release date. “They need a bit more time in the training stables,” apparently.
A beta, which was originally planned to arrive this Summer, has been nudged back, and no new dates are currently unannounced.
Chivalry 2 remains in closed alpha on PC, and you can sign up for it here.
