New No Time To Die Trailer Puts It All On The Line For James Bond

Daniel Craig will reprise his role as James Bond for one final mission in No Time to Die. Now, the second trailer for the 25th installment of the 007 film series previews Bond’s conflict with a new villainous mastermind who appears to have ties to his greatest enemy and greatest love.

Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga from a script he co-wrote with Neal Purvis and Robert Wade and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, No Time to Die will see James Bond coming out of retirement when CIA agent and old friend Felix Leiter disrupts his peaceful life in Jamaica to ask for help in rescuing a kidnapped scientist. However, the mission proves to be far more personal than expected when it sends Bond on the path towards a dangerous and intelligent new foe named Safin, who is portrayed by Academy Award winner Rami Malek.

The second trailer for No Time to Die opens with James Bond being pursued by armed adversaries before telling Dr. Madeleine Swann, the woman for whom he left active service, that “the past isn’t dead.” Circumstances then bring Bond face to face with Ernst Stavro Blofeld, his imprisoned step-brother and former leader of the sinister organization SPECTRE, who informs 007 that Dr. Swann is keeping a secret from him. While the nature of Swann’s secret is not divulged, she does inform Bond that Safin is likely seeking revenge against her. What follows is an action-packed montage featuring several returning favorites and a handful of newcomers to the franchise as James Bond reminds viewers what’s at stake with this mission, saying, “if we don’t do this, there’ll be nothing left to save.”

Craig and the aforementioned cast members are joined by Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Christoph Waltz, and Ralph Fiennes, who have all appeared in at least one the four previous 007 films since Casino Royale. Joining Malek as newcomers to the 007 franchise is Lashana Lynch as a 00 agent named Nomi and Ana de Armas as a CIA agent named Paloma. Originally scheduled to be released in theaters in April 2020, No Time to Die was postponed to November of the same year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, James Bond fans were at least given a chance to hear the latest James Bond theme song before the film was delayed by nearly seven months. Written and performed by Billie Eilish, “No Time to Die” debuted in February to positive reactions from listeners who felt the tune was perfectly suited for the Bond franchise.

Fans of the James Bond franchise are likely relieved to see Daniel Craig return for one more outing as 007. While the most recent Bond film, Spectre, attempted to tie Craig’s previous 007 films together and conclude the character’s story, fans have been hoping for the actor to end his tenure as the famous spy on a more positive note.

No Time to Die is scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters on November 20, 2020.
