D&D has a ton of ready-made adventures players and Dungeon Masters can use to provide interesting stories for a gaming session. While these adventures lack the graphical prowess of video games, they do adjust in terms of story and exciting battles. As such, just what D&D adventures might fit the tastes of Original Sin 2 fans?

10 A Fool And His Gold

Anthony Caroselli’s A Fool and His Gold takes adventurers of Levels 1 to 4 on a mission to find a missing caravan. What starts as a simple tracking mission sends adventurers to an abandoned circus wagon. Players also discover that Dr. Jubal and the Carnival of Curiosities ended up attracting the wrong people due to their popularity.

As a single module, A Fool and His Gold remains a straightforward adventure perfect for Divinity fans. After all, going inside mines doesn’t necessarily mean “dungeon”. Sometimes it means going into a twisted carnival, or even finding treasure.

9 The Sinister Secret Of Saltmarsh

Who doesn’t love a good ghost story? Divinity fans sure do.

In The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh, players of Levels 1 to 3 are led into a haunted house. Others who ventured inside to get “treasure” returned with stories of monstrous peril. Unfortunately, it’s time for the adventurers to put a close to these tall tales.

Players who want to get a feel of old-school D&D can rely on this adventure (originally by Dave J. Browne and Don Turnbull) to give them a great time. Moreover, you can use The Sinister Secret as a jumping-off point for other Saltmarsh-themed adventures. Thanks to Mike Mearls and Kate Welch’s Ghosts of Saltmarsh, players have access to popular Saltmarsh adventures, “translated” from previous editions for Fifth Edition.

8 Waterdeep: Dungeon Of The Mad Mage

Players of Divinity who want an adventure with popular D&D NPCs might want to go to the Undermountain. In Dungeon of the Mad Mage, adventurers of Level 5 to 20 go deep into the titular dungeon, created by Halaster Blackcloak. Divinity fans who want a taste of classic dungeon-crawls will relish in this adventure’s arsenal of mysteries, spells, traps, and monsters.

Players who finished Dragon Heist can proceed to play this adventure. For newcomers, this mega-dungeon will reflect just how old-school dungeon-crawling D&D has appealed to its fans.

7 Hulburg: Rebuilding, Burning, Rising

Being embroiled in a small conflict that spirals out of control sounds like the perfect template for a Divinity-like adventure. As such, thanks to Dave Zajac, Merric Blackman, and Mickey Tan of Baldman Games, players get exactly that. In Hulburg Rebuilding, Hulburg Burning, and Hulburg Rising, players of Levels 5 to 10 explore the title town. Though it’s no stranger to plunder and raids, Hulburg remain ever-valiant in its struggle to rebuild. In this particular situation, the party visits the mass of tents in Hulburg’s Tent City only to find its townsfolk struggling because of an ongoing gang war.

Moreover, it seems something’s amiss as the party tries to resolve the conflict. Their efforts take them to Hulburg’s ruined surroundings, and they discover an ancient plot that may transform the entire town into undead paradise, courtesy of a lich-to-be.

6 Phlan: Sepulture, Enemy Of My Enemy, Subterfuge

Players looking for one dashing premise after the next might want to try adventuring in Phlan. Thanks to Greg Marks, Will Doyle, and Erik Scott De Bie of Baldman Games, the adventures Sepulture, Enemy of My Enemy, and Subterfuge let a Level 11 to 16-party explore a crisis that might ruin election season.

In the adventure trilogy, the party tries to stop a plan that can ruin reconstruction efforts in the city of Phlan after the defeat of the dragon Vorgansharax. Unbeknownst to them, a spellcaster wants to use dark energies to further his own ends, villagers soon develop newfound abilities with a lethal price, and people have gone missing. Fans of Divinity: Original Sin 2‘s juicy premise will love this trilogy.

5 The Jungle Has Fangs Trilogy

Players who love dinosaurs will love The Jungle Has Fangs trilogy. In this adventure series, A Day at the Races, A Walk in the Park, and Whispers in the Dark caters to Level 1 to 4 adventurers with a love for the jungle and exotic locales. Moreover, Ruty Rutenberg, Satine Phoenix, Travis Woodall’s adventures in the tropical setting of Chult serves as a great introduction to the famed Forgotten Realms setting of D&D. Players may even partake in a dinosaur race!

Perhaps even more intriguing is how these modules lead players to multiple adventure types that stay fresh with each story. For instance, the adventure begins with competitive dino racing, but it ushers into murder-mystery and a hazardous dungeon crawl real quick. There’s something for everyone — especially Divinity fans.

4 Best Friends Forever

In the city of Mulmaster, players encounter nobles who try to exploit a power vacuum to cement their status in the aristocracy. Meanwhile, refugees struggle in the aftermath of a great conflict. Amid the chaos, Rob Silva’s Best Friends Forever tasks the Level 5 to 10 party to look for the daughter of a noble. Unfortunately, this adventure teaches that vampires get involved when kids stay at home alone.

Fans of Divinity‘s dialogue will love exploring their opportunities to roleplay here. Moreover, this adventure helps players realize that there’s more to a story than “kill the vampire” when the undead get involved. Best Friends Forever is one of D&D’s more heartwarming adventures. After all, sometimes it’s a child’s innocence that can truly turn the undead.

3 Cloaks And Shadows

Players who want a more dangerous trek in Mulmaster, the City of Danger, might want to try Will Doyle’s Cloaks and Shadows for Level 1 to 4 adventurers. In this module, players get on the radar of Mulmaster’s Cloaks — wizards and sorcerers sworn to protect the city. Unfortunately, a simple meeting soon turns into a full-blown investigation. The adventurers will find themselves in need to prove their innocence in a crime they didn’t commit.

Fans of Divinity who also have a flair for short but compelling stories might want to try Cloaks and Shadows to test their role-playing and investigative skills. Moreover, DMs can use Cloaks and Shadows to propel players into a larger plot, especially if they want to play in a campaign.

2 Curse Of Strahd

Players who are looking for haunted communities will love Curse of Strahd. In this adventure, Chris Perkins takes players of Levels 1 to 10 in the village of Barovia, which finds itself besieged by a mysterious mist that doesn’t seem to go away. Moreover, the mere mention of their leader, the enigmatic Count Strahd von Zarovich, seems to scare all of Barovia’s citizen. Either way, players will soon realize there’s more to the Count than just being a Dracula stand-in.

Curse of Strahd introduces interesting mechanics in the game. Moreover, the fact that Barovia itself serves as Strahd’s interdimensional prison should spark intrigue in itself that Divinity players won’t be able to get enough of.

1 Waterdeep: Dragon Heist

The fabled city of Waterdeep attracts adventurers and merchants of all kinds thanks to its fame and popularity. As such, it’s no surprise why lead designer Chris Perkins can bring adventurers of Levels 1 to 5 on an urban heist adventure like none seen before in D&D history. In Dragon Heist, players will work for one of many factions to find a treasure of 500, 00 Gold Dragons. Like other heist stories, Dragon Heist takes players on a wild ride of action, thievery, betrayal, and intrigue.

Waterdeep eclipses the likes of Barovia in sheer scope as players can take on Dragon Heist with various main villains across different seasons. Those who want to experience the kind of freedom Divinity offers them should definitely play Dragon Heist.
