Destiny 2: Xur Exotic Armor, Weapon, and Recommendations for September 4

Even though Destiny 2: Beyond Light is still two months away, new information regarding the anticipated expansion continues to arrive. This week gave players a detailed look at two of the new Stasis powered subclasses for the Warlock and Titan. The Shadebinder subclass gives Warlocks an icy Stasis staff which can not only freeze large groups of enemies, but shatter them in one fell swoop. The Titan Behemoth gains stasis crystal fists, greater mobility, and highly damaging melee attacks including multiple ways to deal with clusters of enemies.

In addition, this week’s blog post also delved deeper into the changes coming to triumphs and titles once November 10 arrives. As numerous locations and other content get prepared to move into the Destiny Convent Vault, many players wondered what would happen to associated titles and triumphs. Older triumphs and titles will be moved into a new category called Legacy Triumphs which contribute to Career Score instead of the Active Score. However, they can still be viewed at anytime and are not being removed entirely even if players won’t be able to achieve them.

Until next week when Bungie reveals the final Stasis subclass, the Hunter Revenant, Destiny 2 players can instead seek out the exotic merchant Xur over the next few daysFollow this guide for his location as well as a review of what he’s currently selling for the weekend of September 4, 2020.

This weekend, Xur has taken up residence back on the Calus Barge inside of Watcher’s Grave on Nessus.

From the Director, head to Nessus and load into Watcher’s Grave. Once loaded in, run forward until the zone opens up. The Golden Barge is floating nearby with Xur hanging out towards the back of the ship near the treasure chests.

Keep in mind that Xur is no longer selling collection rolled gear, a welcomed change of pace from the past few years. The armor he now has features randomized stats and perks, which should revitalize player interest in what the merchant has each week. In addition, players can use an Exotic Cypher to purchase a second fated engram from the merchant.

Here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:

Wings of Sacred Dawn – Warlock chest armor

It’s been a while, but the Wings of Sacred Dawn are back in stock after a very long layoff. Tome of Dawn is its exotic perk, suspending Dawnblade players in midair when aiming weapons and extending the duration when hitting enemies with gunshots.

Not the best exotic for Warlocks, Wings of Sacred Dawn still make a case thanks to the popularity of the solar subclass it synergizes with. The biggest issue with this exotic is that it may leave players exposed in the air, especially when in competitive modes like the Crucible or Trials of Osiris. It’s worth a look largely due to the randomized roll, though it may not push players away from the more popular choices.

Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +18
  • Resilience +7
  • Recovery +7
  • Discipline +17
  • Intellect +6
  • Strength +7

Foetracer – Hunter helmet

Another item that hasn’t been featured is the Foetracer Hunter helmet. As the name implies, Foetracer visually highlights enemies thanks to its intrinsic perk known as Relentless Tracker. This visually marks targeted enemies and then deals more damage to low-health marked enemies.

Obviously, this is a PvP focused item where its perks can shine brightest. Players have also found success with it in Gambit, where it is able to highlight invaders. Overall, this helm is a solid exotic, but not likely one that’s considered essential to own especially when put up next to some of the other Hunter exotics.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +16
  • Resilience +6
  • Recovery +9
  • Discipline +7
  • Intellect +16
  • Strength +7

Aeon Safe – Titan gauntlets

The big loser this week are the Titans as they have arguably the worst exotic item in the game: Aeon Safe. Added inside of the Curse of Osiris expansion, these are one third of the full Aeon Cult set. They work best when other players are wearing gear from it, though no one currently does which means players won’t get the full benefit. Its exotic perk is Aeon Energy which grants added grenade energy to Warlocks, barricade energy to Titans, and dodge energy to Hunters when the user throws a grenade. For teammates that don’t have Aeon gear, they’ll only receive a small energy boost.

Xur has featured this set often for each of the three classes but the recommendation remains the same: these exotic gauntlets are not worth anyone’s time or resources outside of those attempting to collect every exotic item. The ironic thing here is that the Aeon Safe gauntlets have the highest stats roll this week.

Then again, if this item ever gets a rework, perhaps they’re worth picking up this week.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +20
  • Resilience +4
  • Recovery +10
  • Discipline +2
  • Intellect +19
  • Strength +11

A month later, the Merciless heavy fusion rifle is back. Naturally, nothing has changed since it was last featured. For those who don’t know, Merciless is a heavy weapon that has high damage output, especially against a single target. It’s a solid choice regardless of the mode, though Nightfalls and strikes make it a powerful choice. While it was once a sure pick from fans, players who want a little more bang for their buck may actually opt for weapons like the Jotunn, which isn’t a power weapon and has a bit of tracking as well.

Merciless gets its power from its exotic perks. Conserve Momentum continually charges the weapon faster when players get non-lethal hits, with the cycle resetting once the final kill is achieved. Pair that with its other perk, Impetus, players gain increased damage for a short time after quickly reloading following a kill.

Additional perks:

  • Chambered Compensator
  • Extended Mag
  • Fitted Stock

Here’s the complete rundown of Xur’s entire stock in Destiny 2 for September 4, 2020:

  • Wings of Sacred Dawn (Warlock chest armor) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Foetracer (Hunter helmet) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Aeon Safe (Titan gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Merciless (Heavy Fusion) – 29 Legendary Shards
  • Fated Engram – 97 Legendary Shards
  • Five of Swords Challenge Card

Destiny 2 Shadowkeep is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
