Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 – How to Unlock Alien Skater

There is a certain vibe to the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games that can be difficult to describe. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 may be a retread of the original games, but there is a real question of whether or not it can capture their old magic. If the celebrity cameo leaked for Pro Skater 1+2 is any indication, the answer seems to be yes.

On top of the core gameplay, soundtrack, and level design that has returned, Pro Skater 1+2 seems to have captured the original games’ irreverence. They could, like other sports games from the same era, be somewhat goofy at times. This sometimes took the form of guest characters with special gimmicks, with some of the most memorable being Spider-Man and Boba Fett, who could both get lots of air time.

This is a trend that Pro Skater 1+2 has continued with the leak of one secret character: The Roswell Alien. The Alien is one of two known secret characters players can get their hands on. It has some unique tricks of its own, and has maxed out stats from the get-go. Unlocking this creature, however, is no joke. It’s a long and somewhat obnoxious journey, but worth it for completionists or alien lovers.

The only way to unlock the Roswell Alien is by getting every Alien Plushie in the game. They don’t float or glow, and only show up in one mode: Skate Tours. They don’t have an associated achievement like other map collectibles in Skate Tours, and players only have a limited time (usually two minutes) to hunt them down in a level. Every level from School to the returning Roswell map has exactly one plushie.

The plushies are often hidden well, in places that are especially hard to reach. For example, the plushies in Roswell, the Hanger, and Marseille are all in secret rooms that need to be opened first. Things to look for are glass windows, wood, and dark corners, which are common hiding places. They are all a trip to find, but at least they aren’t hidden behind a Pro Skater tie-in Chipoltle burrito.

The map Skate Heaven can only be unlocked by completing every challenge in Skate Tours mode, but here is an alien plushie in Skate Heaven too. It’s in the secret area found by jumping into the activated volcano. Once all the plushies are collected, the Alien is unlocked. Whether players want to jump in now or wait for Pro Skater 1+2‘s rumored Switch port, the Alien is lots of fun to use, so get skating.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
