Fall Guys Gets Reimagined as an Anime | Game Rant

One doesn’t have to look at Fall Guys long to see the inspiration Mediatonic’s wacky battle royale took from Japanese games shows in the vein of Takeshi’s Castle, where watching people fumble through colorful obstacle courses is all of the fun. That being said, a few professionals have given fans an idea of what Fall Guys could look like if it also took inspiration from a more popular form of Japanese media, like anime.

As weird as it may seem at first blush, the idea isn’t all that far-fetched. Like many popular anime series like Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, My Hero Academia, and One Punch Man, Fall Guys also thrives on action that is both hectic and vibrant. As they run around and over each other in pursuit of victory, Fall Guys’ players frequently experience tragic losses, glorious victories, and heartstopping close calls that wouldn’t feel out of place in a typical action anime. It also helps that the game also isn’t afraid to embrace its absurdity.

Perhaps it was for these reasons that voice actor Max Mittelman (who fans may know as Persona 5’s Ryuji or Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s Red XIII) joked about Fall Guys becoming an anime on Twitter late last month. The response from followers and fans of the game led him to even tag the official Fall Guys Twitter account in a reply, simply stating, “I think we have something here.”

Less than two weeks later, that something has become an animated video that Mittelman produced with fellow voice actors Ray Chase, Robbie Daymond, and Russel Baclig, who handled the artwork and visual effects. All four lend their vocal talents to telling the story of a trio of default skin-wearing Fall Guys as they take part in a full-on anime battle to overcome the hotdog-costumed griefer standing between them and Slimb Climb’s goal.

The whole thing’s all pretty goofy, as one would expect from a Fall Guys parody, but what’s kind of remarkable about it is how well the common anime tropes on display mesh with the aspects of the game being parodied. No doubt, plenty of players will be able to relate to the experience of having a random opponent trying to stop them from crossing the finish line, and seeing it depicted like this should definitely give them a laugh while they wait for Fall Guys Season 2 to arrive.

In the meantime, the game continues to grow off of its highly successful launch last month. Ahead of Season 2, Mediatonic has been busy tweaking the game’s systems and providing players with new cosmetics to unlock, not to mention shaking up Fall Guys’ gameplay with the addition of “Big Yeetus.”
