Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Alpha Accidentally Leaked by Streamer

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s never-ending list of leaks has grown even further today as a professional CoD player named Zooma has shown the game’s Alpha on his dashboard. While this version of the game likely will not be played by any regular gamers, it does provide details about the original Black Ops Cold War leak.

Perhaps Black Ops Cold War’s most damaging leak was its original one, as the game’s entire Alpha was found to be downloadable in the PlayStation Store. Going by the name “The Red Door,” players found ways to download the unlisted game but could not get in without certain privileges. Still, they datamined the Alpha version of the game to get confirmation on some of the modes within the game, including Treyarch’s iconic Zombies mode.

Now, thanks to this leak from Zooma (images of which have since been deleted), we have an idea of who had access to “The Red Door.” It seems like it was not just the game’s developers after all, but certain selected streamers and content creators who helped with the testing. Funnily enough, this is not the first major Black Ops Cold War leak from a streamer this week, as the original showed actual multiplayer gameplay.

While this leak only shows a pre-release version of a game on someone’s dashboard as opposed to an early look at a new game mode in Black Ops Cold War, it remains interesting. The dashboard slip-up confirms that the game is being tested by players ahead of the Black Ops Cold War Beta, which is extremely close to the game’s official release. Real fixes can be made in time based on what the select few who can play the Alpha find, which is a good sign for the game’s launch.

Mistakes like this are the downside of Treyarch and Activision’s plan for a streamer-focused multiplayer reveal this Wednesday, as those unfamiliar with developer protocols and keeping secrets will mess up from time to time. It is hard to blame Zooma for the mistake given that it was only a dashboard image, but the Call of Duty higher-ups clearly don’t want it getting out as every clip and screenshot of the moment is being taken down.

This second look at the Black Ops Cold War Alpha joins recent leaks such as the game’s perks, weapons, and the possible inclusion of specialist weapons in some form. Together, they ensure that the reveal event on Wednesday may be exciting, but it certainly will not be surprising.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be available November 13th on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X upgrades will also be available.
