Skyrim is Now on a Pregnancy Test | Game Rant

From PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch to Amazon’s Alexa, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has been forever immortalized on a seemingly endless lineup of platforms. The iconic RPG has actually gone on to become something of a widespread meme because of its endlessly ported nature, with Bethesda themselves even riffing on the joke back in 2018 when joking that Skyrim will eventually be playable on an Etch A Sketch and a fridge.

However, it seems Twitter user Foone decided to take the gag one step further and port Skyrim to a much more unexpected device. That’s right, for all the Elder Scrolls players out there trying to bring new Dovakhins into the world, Foone has brought the hit action-adventure RPG to an actual pregnancy test.

To be clear, the version of the game on the stick is actually just a recording of the opening moments of the game, but it’s undeniably an absolute feat to behold. Rendered in dots on the tiny OLED screen fixed onto the pregnancy test, the video is unmistakably the notorious “you’re finally awake” prologue that introduces players to the world of Skyrimwhich many will surely agree is utterly insane. As for how the infinitely talented hardware hacker managed to make it happen, they claim that the only part of the actual test they’re using is the shell, with Foone using “a replacement display AND a replacement microcontroller” to create the image. This allegedly because “the existing CPU can’t be reprogrammed and the existing LCD can only show 4 things,” meaning the hacker had to replace parts to make the test work.

For those wondering what else Foone’s hilarious custom pregnancy tests can do, the results range from fun gags to more insanely detailed results. For one, the pregnancy tests can run a recording of the original DOOM (with Foone claiming that getting the test to run the actual game might be possible with a PC connected but it would be “tricky”), while they’ve aptly added the Rickrolled footage and, for the Gen Z audience, the Get Stick Bugged meme. Hopefully, Foone will have more to share about this bizarre project in the days to come.

As for other interesting projects in a similar vein, a YouTube creator by the name of Fundy managed to make Minecraft playable within Minecraft back in July this year, while a recent mod allows users to play DOOM in the game as well. Evidently, these sorts of wacky projects are becoming more prevalent, especially with the coronavirus pandemic seeing many adopt interesting new hobbies to help the time pass.
