In a virtual battlefield like the ones found in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, players are always tasked with taking out other players for one reason or another. Simulated death is at the core of Modern Warfare’s gameplay, as it is with most shooters, but in an unexpected moment during a recent match, one player recently experienced the opposite and got to take part in the miracle of life.
By now, Modern Warfare’s players are familiar with the gameplay experience Infinity Ward has in mind for them, which is designed to immerse them in fast and frantic first-person action at all times. But with so many people playing the game at any one time, it’s not all that rare for some unexpected variable to come into play and leave players seeing some strange things happening in Modern Warfare.
Most of the time, these things can be chalked up to a glitch of some sort, but in the case of the clip shared by PingPlay on Reddit this week, it all comes down to inadvertently perfect timing and positioning. The clip in question shows him respawning during a round of Kill Confirmed and dropping a Munitions Box onto the ground beside him. Before he can grab an extra round of ammo, however, a teammate spawns in right on top of the Box, popping into existence the exact moment it opens up.
“I managed to create new life. I’m a proud dad of a fully grown soldier,” PingPlay declares in the video title. The video itself was met with a warm reception among other Reddit users who got a good laugh out of it. “Congratulations it’s a [Classified],” said user Mattyl1597, while erybodibutmeh jokingly accused PingPlay of humble-bragging due to his casual mention of playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in 4K. “Sorry that this gif is in HD, im used to playing a better resolution…. Peasants,” they teased.
As action-oriented as Modern Warfare and its battle royale offshoot Call of Duty: Warzone are designed to be, players often manage to subvert that with amusing results. Whether it be a player deceiving opponents by faking their death or stealing the perfect game-ending kill from a teammate, there’s no shortage for comedy potential in these games.
For the time being, players are continuing to make the most of the game while they wait for its followup, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, to drop in November. Recent updates have introduced new modes and playlists, while things like new Double XP events are planned to come soon. Through it all, unsurprisingly, players are continuing to pull off hilarious plays in Modern Warfare.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
