Cook-Out: A Sandwhich Tale, a wild virtual-reality kitchen adventure, is out now on Oculus Quest and Rift S. The game is designed with multiplayer in mind, but can also be enjoyed in solo-mode.
The general gameplay of Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale may remind some of classic flash or mobile style games like Dinner Dash. The idea is that players must create food for customers as quickly as possible, and in the case of A Sandwich Tale, those dishes are often massive multilayered sandwiches.
The game could also be compared to Overcooked, a well-revied series about creating dishes with friends amidst chaotic events. Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale is a multiplayer game for up to four players. The fun of serving food to a “hungry cast of enchanted creatures” with buddies online is a part of the design of the game. The further players progress through the game, the harder the dishes become to create, but also they will need to fend off angry customers, and even thieves.
Of course, the VR nature of the title is where it could have the potential to shine. Other games like this have been silly, cute, or chaotic, but creating the dishes in virtual-reality adds to the immersion. The game is also being released on the Oculus Rift S, which is good because rumors lately have pointed to the possibility that the Oculus Quest could be discontinued.
There is a bevy of popular VR games right now. Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale, from developer Resolution Games, has a chance to gain some steam, thanks to the multiplayer nature of the game.
