Suicide Squad: How Harley Quinn and Her Allies Could ‘Kill the Justice League’

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has already shown fans that the gang will be tasked with taking down Superman, quite possibly the toughest job the Squad has ever been assigned. Harley and her team will also likely have to deal with the other main members of DC’s Justice League, likely excluding Batman after the events of Arkham Knight.

Superman’s weakness Kryptonite is so well known that it’s become synonymous with the phrase “Achilles’ heel” in the modern world, and the Squad will likely have to get their hands on some to take down the Man of Steel. However, there are key ways the Suicide Squad may be able to take down the other heroes gone rogue in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Green Lantern gets his powers from the Power Ring of the Green Lantern Corps, which Hal Jordan came into possession of to become the hero he’s known as in the DC Universe. While Green Lantern can use the ring to create anything he can imagine, the ring has one big built-in weakness: the color yellow.

Power Rings contain a “yellow impurity” thanks to Parallax, the parasitic super-entity that’s imprisoned by the Green Lantern Corps. It might sound silly – and it is. Batman and Robin have trapped Green Lantern before by luring him into a room where they’ve painted everything, themselves included, completely yellow. It’s exactly the sort of ridiculous weakness that characters like the Suicide Squad might find hard to resist exploiting in spectacular fashion in the upcoming game.

The Flash is the fastest being in the DC Universe in almost all iterations of the character, but has one big weakness the Suicide Squad could exploit if they want to slow the speedster down. The Flash’s real name is Barry Allen, and if he’s exposed to cold it can slow down his molecules, denying them the energy they need to help him run faster than the speed of sound.

Considering the Arkham-verse’s Harley Quinn’s proximity to Batman villains like Mr. Freeze in past games, fans could watch the Flash stripped of his powers for just long enough for the Suicide Squad to bring him down. The real trick will be catching him first.

Aquaman, AKA Arthur Cutty, may be the butt of a lot of jokes about the Justice League, but is still one of the most powerful heroes in the DC Universe, with the power to telepathically control marine life and manipulate water using his Trident of Neptune.

It will not come as a surprise, however, that Aquaman is vulnerable to dehydration, and it was established in Adventure Comics #256 than Aquaman had to be in contact with water at least once per hour, or he would risk death. King Shark will likely know of this weakness as another royal of the ocean, though it’s unclear if this weakness would also apply to him. The Suicide Squad will likely have to lure Aquaman away from the sea, however, if they want to stand a chance against the King of Atlantis.

Martian Manhunter is also one of the original seven Justice League members and has super-strength, telekinesis, shape-shifting abilities, and invisibility among his powers. He is also the most powerful telepath on earth.

However, the character has been vulnerable to fire in the past and suffers from pyrophobia. In some versions, the martian weakness to fire was imposed upon the species to stop them from reverting to a previous war-like incarnation of their civilization, while in the New 52, Martian Manhunter suffers from a fear of fire due to witnessing the death of his species in a blazing inferno. It’s a fear that the Squad will likely need to exploit if they want to bring the alien down.

Wonder Woman may be able to survive a the blunt-force impact of a train, but the Amazonian has a vulnerability to piercing weapons, including being shot by bullets. She can heal faster than a normal person due to her ancestry, but the Suicide Squad will likely be delighted to learn that Wonder Woman is vulnerable to their favorite weaponry, especially Deadshot. However, Diana is super-humanly quick and can deflect projectiles with her Bracelets of Submission, and getting her into a position where a shot will land will be far more difficult than most fans might think.

Over the years most of the superhuman DC heroes, even those who did not have clear vulnerabilities in their original incarnations, have been given one big weakness that the Suicide Squad may be able to exploit in their mission to “Kill the Justice League.” Fans will be looking forward to seeing how this will play out in the game’s story, and just how the Squad hopes to balance their odds against some of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will release in 2022 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
