Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a growing game with new content coming consistently, including new NPCs that do unique things for the player. Today a video released detailing some of the many NPCs of New Horizons, and while it likely will not help most experienced players, it should be a good bit of assistance for newcomers.
With Animal Crossing: New Horizons selling so many copies, a constant influx of new players is enough to justify the late tutorial video. NPCs are a surprisingly complex feature within New Horizons, with some only showing up at certain times of day and each doing something different. The four-minute video opens with a brief introduction to Tom Nook, the often-memed loan shark of a player’s island. His role of helping players design their islands is shared, though his heavy prices for doing so are not mentioned within the island.
While Timmy, Tommy and Isabelle are described next, the Able sisters are a bit more complex and come later. The video clearly shares how Label comes occasionally to task players with modeling outfits and Mabel runs the shop, and it even hints at Sable’s hidden function. Even long-time players may not know that talking to the outfit maker enough times will lead to her rewarding the player with patterns to customize items, so this is the one shred of info in the video that helps longtime players too.
Wilbur and Orville are showcased in detail, with their functions of taking players to Mystery Islands and sending mail to friends and villagers described well. The two lovable owls, Blathers and his sister Celeste, are also showcased. Fans have grown attached to the pair, with awesome fan art of the star-obsessed Celeste often being posted online. The video then moves into a “and more” section for the remaining half-dozen of NPCs, with a four-minute video not being enough to detail all of them to the same extent.
The speedy montage of visitors includes the fish and bug obsessed CJ and Flick, the ghost known as Wisp, and merchants Sahara, Leif, and Kicks. Daisy Mae, the obsessive Turnip seller with a running nose, is briefly touched on as well. The final moments of the video show flashes of shifty art dealer Redd, Pascal the scallop hoarder, and Luna the Dream Suite keeper. These three characters get no description regarding what it is they do, however. This video is likely to become a bit outdated soon, as more special characters are one of the most requested new features for New Horizons.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is filled with things to keep players engaged, and special characters are certainly one of them. With the growing number of politicians advertising in Animal Crossing, an NPC focused on campaigning could be a funny addition, even if there are far cuter options out there.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on Nintendo Switch.
