Marvel’s Avengers officially launched last week, and with that launch came more datamining on the part of fans. Within the files a special suit was found for Marvel’s Avengers hero Hulk, and oddly enough, it looks like it turns the Gamma monster into Santa Claus.
While not quite as big of a find as the leaked character roster for Marvel’s Avengers, the suit could be an indication of more holiday suits on the way. An image of the costume was posted on the Marvel Cloud Twitter account, and it shows Hulk looking a lot less green than normal. Sporting blue skin and some white chest hair to go with an equally white beard, the hero is looking quite festive. The look is completed by a red pair of Hulk’s traditional shorts.
While there is a small chance this costume is just a coincidental color swap for the strongest member of the Avengers, it seems unlikely. The team at Crystal Dynamics may be hard at work on the recently teased Black Panther DLC, but it could certainly have set aside some time for making unlockable Christmas-themed outfits. Whether a holiday update would just include skins or some fun modes and easter eggs like in other games is unclear, but thanks to this leak, some form of Holiday events seems like more of a possibility.
Fans were quick to reply with ideas for Holiday-themed Marvel outfits, including a zombified version of Captain America. Zombies skins would be an incredible fit for the Halloween season and are rooted in Marvel lore. The limited series Marvel Zombies saw nearly the entire Marvel universe becoming zombified, and with that zombification came some terrifying new looks. Considering the system that is already in place for Iconic Missions in Avengers, which reward players with a classic suit upon completion, holiday mission chains could be a great addition to the game.
There have already been a good number of surprises in Crystal Dynamics’ take on The Avengers, so it would be great to see some themed outfits join that list. Santa Hulk manages to still be intimidating despite the new color pattern, so the suits added to the game do not need to be too over the top.
Whether the leaked Hulk skin is truly a Santa Claus tribute remains to be seen, but Marvel’s Avengers fans should have their answers when December rolls around. Until then, players will be busy trying out Hawkeye in the upcoming Taking Aim operation.
Marvel’s Avengers is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X upgrades will also be available.
