Ubisoft Announces Roller Champions Delay | Game Rant

It’s been a while since Ubisoft last had anything new to annonce about Roller Champions, its upcoming free-to-play roller derby game. The good news is Ubisoft finally provided that long-awaited update during the latest Ubisoft Forward today. The bad news, unfortunately, is that it involves a delay.

When Roller Champions was first announced at E3 2019, Ubisoft was targeting a launch window of early 2020. That it’s already September, and the game is nowhere to be seen, makes it obvious that the publisher wasn’t able to meet that, and now it’s confirmed that the game won’t be out in 2020 at all. Instead, Ubisoft is now planning on releasing the game sometime in early 2021.

Luckily, Ubisoft isn’t planning on letting the game go silent again. In a new video, the publisher announced that it will be kicking off a “Roller Champions Blueprint Initiative” next month, a series of behind-the-scenes videos and developer commentaries that will dive into the game’s features, art, lore, and more. More than that, though, the Initiative will allow the fledgling Roller Champions community to engage with the developers through social media.

So far, Ubisoft has let players try the game out through a free demo and a closed alpha, giving them an idea of what could set the game apart from similar sports games like Rocket League. Additionally, the publisher has since confirmed that Roller Champions will be available on consoles and mobile devices, after being initially confirmed for just PC.

Roller Champions is set to launch in early 2021 for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
