It was back in March that Panzer Dragoon: Remake had a surprise launch on the Nintendo Switch. The sudden news of its release coincided with information that Panzer Dragoon: Remake was a timed exclusive with no indication with how long that would hold. Now just under six months later, it seems the dragon will be set free.
The official Panzer Dragoon: Remake Twitter account announced that the remake of the 1995 Sega Saturn exclusive would be coming to new platforms. The tweet announced PlayStation 4 and PC releases with the latter specified as Steam and GOG. No specific release date has been announced, but it is likely to release by the end of September.
Noticeably absent from the list of new platforms is the Xbox One. In a following tweet, the account acknowledged that an Xbox release is planned but will be “coming a bit later!” While developer MegaPixel Studio didn’t give much detail on the ports, they will likely come coupled with the substantial Version 1.3 patch for Panzer Dragoon: Remake.
While the news of Panzer Dragoon: Remake finally being more widely available is great for fans, there is something to look forward to for the franchise in 2021. The VR exclusive title Panzer Dragoon: Voyage Record is set to release in March, bringing the on-rails action through a whole new way to play. No specific VR platforms have been confirmed for the title, but many wonder if it will go the same exclusive route as the remake did.
