Destiny 2: Xur Exotic Armor, Weapon, and Recommendations for September 11

As promised, Bungie pulled the curtain back on the final subclass coming inside of Destiny 2: Beyond Light. Taking inspiration from ninjas, the Hunter Revenant summons a pair of kama blades known as Silence and Squall for its super. Throwing the first freezes enemies in a radius around the impact, while throwing the second kama blade will embed itself and then detonate into a stasis storm that not only tracks enemies, but slows and damages them over time.

In addition to more Beyond Light revelations, current Destiny 2 players finally got access to the second part of the Exodus quest line. As expected, players were sent back to Asher Mir, Deputy Commander Sloane, Brother Vance, and Ana Bray at their respective locations to take part in activities located there. Not only providing a nice nostalgic experience for players before each location is retired, finishing the quest also led to the new exotic sidearm, Traveler’s Chosen.

In the meantime, players can hunt down Xur, the Destiny 2 exotic merchant over the next few daysFollow this guide for his location as well as a review of what he’s currently selling for the weekend of September 11, 2020.

This weekend, players can find Xur back inside the Winding Cove zone of the EDZ.

Fast travel to the Winding Cove zone and immediately head towards the back where the Fallen typically patrol. Climb the cliffs back here to find Xur standing on a ledge not too far from a crashed ship.

Keep in mind that Xur is no longer selling collection rolled gear, a welcomed change of pace from the past few years. The armor he now has features randomized stats and perks, which should revitalize player interest in what the merchant has each week. In addition, players can use an Exotic Cypher to purchase a second fated engram from the merchant.

Here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:

The Stag – Warlock helm

The skeletal looking helm called The Stag is back in stock this week, which remains a solid, if unexciting support tool for Warlocks. Dearly Departed is the intrinsic perk that grants Rift energy when the wearer is critically wounded. In addition it drops a healing rift for the rest of the team when the wearer dies.

Ultimately, this exotic isn’t immensely useful for solo players as the main trait basically triggers after death. Therefore, this is a situational exotic that is strong in team based modes. Still, there are much better exotic Warlock items that should be prioritized over this one.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +14
  • Resilience +13
  • Recovery +4
  • Discipline +14
  • Intellect +12
  • Strength +7

Ophidia Spathe – Hunter chest armor

Back again after only a few weeks is the Ophidia Spathe. Scissor Fingers is its unique perk which grants Hunters two throwing knives instead of the typical one.

For those who enjoy rolling the Gunslinger subclass, the Ophidia Spathe synergizes particularly well with the Way of a Thousand Cuts and Gambler’s Dodge. It essentially allows the player to nearly continuously throw knives. This week’s edition is also high in mobility as well as recovery. Ultimately, this is a solid, if unspectacular exotic for Hunters this week.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +16
  • Resilience +2
  • Recovery +15
  • Discipline +13
  • Intellect +6
  • Strength +9

Doom Fang Pauldron – Titan gauntlets

After last week’s disappointment, things could only go up for Titan players. Its exotic perk, Horns of Doom, grant super energy on void melee kills. Not only that, melee kills recharge Shield Throw when Sentinel Shield is active, also extending the super on basic hits.

Needless to say, this is another must-have item for Sentinel Titans, especially bottom tree users, just for the added recharge effect alone. The melee benefits also apply to players using a void sword as well, not just for using the Titan melee attack. It’s also worth noting that the roll on this gear this week is particularly good, very high in recovery and strength.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +7
  • Resilience +3
  • Recovery +22
  • Discipline +7
  • Intellect +2
  • Strength +20

Unlike other grenade launchers in this class, The Prospector can fire its rounds as a fully automatic weapon by holding down the trigger. It’s exotic perk is called Excavation which lets players hold the trigger to fire the grenade and then release it to detonate all live grenades simultaneously. In addition, grenades can stick to surfaces and set targets on fire.

Naturally, this weapon allows players to blanket large areas with grenades before detonating them all at once. It can be a little unruly with the full auto system, but once players get the hang of it, it can lay some serious damage on enemies. It’s an older weapon but its likely that many newer players may not have it since it hasn’t been in the spotlight in quite a while. It’s worth spending the shards on.

Additional perks:

  • Chambered Compensator
  • Extended Mag
  • Fitted Stock

Here’s the complete rundown of Xur’s entire stock in Destiny 2 for September 11, 2020:

  • The Stag (Warlock helm) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Ophidia Spathe (Hunter chest armor) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Doom Fang Pauldron (Titan gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Merciless (Heavy Grenade Launcher) – 29 Legendary Shards
  • Fated Engram – 97 Legendary Shards
  • Five of Swords Challenge Card

Destiny 2 Shadowkeep is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
