Popular free to play battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone has had its fair share of glitches and broken weaponry, but the game’s newest bug combines both in a shocking way. Warzone players have discovered that they are being killed by, of all things, their own heartbeat sensors.
While Warzone’s broken vehicles were fixed recently, Infinity Ward will need to look at some of the game’s equipment next. First and foremost is the buggy but beloved heartbeat sensor that is carried around by most serious Warzone players, as its newest glitch makes it a deadly weapon. Players will not be damaging the enemy with the device, though, as the heartbeat sensor is only a threat to the life of the person using it.
This is not the first heartbeat sensor glitch Infinity Ward has struggled with, and with a problem as major as this one, it likely will not be the last. Redditor GiantDreamDwarf shared a clip of the killer heartbeat sensor, and while the player is initially excited to find the piece of equipment, that feeling of joy quickly turns into shock. The player suddenly dies while using the heartbeat sensor, which would be understandable if anyone were around to kill them. The building is empty, though, and the death only becomes more confusing from there.
GiantDreamDwarf’s killer, according to the game’s killcam, is hundreds of meters away on the map. The player gets credit for the confusing, hilarious heartbeat kill despite being nowhere near the player who died. Their reaction would have likely been like GiantDreamDwarf’s, who has no explanation for what happened and laughs in bewilderment. Heartbeat sensors are statistically the second most used equipment item, so the sooner Infinity Ward fixes the issue the better.
This is one of the most confusing Warzone clips yet, as it is a bit scary how suddenly the player dies. The death noise in Warzone is extremely loud as is, so with how unexpected the heartbeat glitch was, the combination is enough to make many players jump out of their seats if it were to happen to them in-game. Random heartbeat deaths are certainly a far cry from Warzone players getting distracted by fast food menus, though both showcase some of the memorable moments that can often occur out of nowhere in the mode.
While the heartbeat sensor glitch is entertaining on a first viewing, it could certainly prove to be frustrating if it is not fixed soon and becomes more widespread. With Call of Duty fans “giving birth” to each other, clearly there is already enough weirdness going on in the game without deadly heartbeat sensors.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
