Xbox Makes Free Papercraft Versions Of Series X and S Consoles

Just about the only thing gamers can do right now as they count down the days until the release of the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles is figure out how they are going to set up their gaming rigs.

With the intention of making it easy for gamers to figure out where they are going to set up their brand new console, Xbox is letting fans print out their own version of its 8th-gen consoles for free. Being paper, of course, the consoles do not contain the necessary hardware to run games, as seen in the recent Xbox Series S trailer, but they can be used to get a good idea of what the console would look like and whether it will even fit in a given spot.

Players who are interested in making their own papercraft Xbox console will need a printer with paper or card stock, scissors, and either glue or tape. The full-size PDFs are 30 inches long, so crafty gamers should expect to use at least a couple of sheets of paper to get the full-size console experience. By setting the printer to “true size” or 100% zoom, crafters should be able to print a series of pages that can then be glued/taped together as one sheet before the final assembly.

Gamers who may be concerned about the size of the Xbox Series X can now craft their own paper console and get a good idea of what it will actually look like sitting in a particular spot. This is especially important for those who are using media centers to hold and organize their equipment, since the type of furniture was originally designed with VHS players and cable boxes in mind, whose profiles are considerably lower and wider than the Xbox Series X.

For those wanting a smaller model to print out and assemble, 1/3rd scale versions of the PDFs are also available. The smaller models can only be used for fun and decoration, since 1/3rd scale versions of the Xbox consoles will not be sold.

The papercraft consoles are an amusing diversion, and they may end up fueling more console wars memes as fans find interesting places to photograph their paper creations. It may even end up being fuel for PS4 fans’ memes as well, since they no longer need to have both consoles to do a side-by-side comparison.
