With just over a month until World of Warcraft: Shadowlands releases, the time left to finish some Battle for Azeroth achievements being removed continues shrinking by the day. Players on the road to the ‘Mad World’ feat of strength should already have beaten the Horrific Vision of Orgrimmar. However, the other half of this challenge involves triumphing over a similarly twisted Stormwind solo.
The Horrific Vision of Stormwind is another one of N’Zoth’s dreams made reality where Alleria Windrunner has taken over the city with her void powers. The community has universally agreed that Stormwind is harder than Orgrimmar and this difficulty is further magnified by the 5 Faceless Masks players must be wearing. However, with a fully upgraded legendary cloak as well as all research unlocked, there is an optimal way to move through the zones and defeat all bosses.
Once spawned in, the player should immediately mount up and run past the first group of enemies to the second pack. AOE everything while focusing and interrupting the Fallen Voidspeaker and Gift of the Titans should proc. Pull the 2 Fallen Riftwalkers and burst them down with the remaining mobs while avoiding their frontal line stun. Before moving on, clear out the rest of the trash in this area as sanity permits.
The side objective involves placing 8 bombs throughout the area filled with enemies. After entering, take the left side and pull 2 packs before AOEing them down which will trigger the Gift of the Titans upgrade before Forge-Guard Hurrul. This mini-boss applies a hard-hitting DOT and does 3 AOE leaps which drain sanity so keep moving once the swirls appear on the ground. After Hurrul dies, continue placing bombs and pulling multiple packs to save time. Once all 8 bombs are ready, interact with the detonator to spawn Therum Deepforge. Kick away the Explosive Ordinance bombs if melee and strafe to the side to dodge Empowered Forge Breath
Walking into this area will cause 2 SI:7 Light-Hunters to attack but a friendly Valeera NPC also spawns to help the player out. Kill both then deal with the nearby mini-boss, Armsmaster Terenson who has a close range and frontal cone AOE that can both be easily moved out of or ignored if Gift of the Titans triggered on the previous mobs. There will then be several groups of enemies in the way before the next mini-boss including SI:7 Informants which have the Touch of the Abyss stun just like in Orgrimmar and must be prioritized. The other mini-boss, Alx’kov the Infested, only has 2 spells that target the player’s current position and can be avoided by staying in motion. Take out the last trash pack and click the pillars that open the gate to Overlord Mathias Shaw.
Shaw’s main gimmick is spawning up to 3 Eyes of Chaos during the fight that drain sanity if the player is facing them. Simply keep the character’s back towards each Eye and backpedal to target Shaw. Consider using a sanity orb at the start to DPS Shaw without worrying about the first eye.
Immediately take a left after entering the area and pull all the trash to the mini-boss before using AOE. Inquisitor Darkspeak will channel a sanity-draining spell so interrupt or ignore it with Gift of the Titans. The next task is defeating Slavemaster Ul’rok who is nearby and only separated by a few trash packs. Simply dodge the tentacles that slam down and run away when it casts Chains of Servitude to avoid being stunned and lose sanity. After killing the Slavemaster, backtrack around the area to free 8 captives trapped in cages.
The final and hardest side objective involves closing 5 portals scattered throughout the Mage Quarter. Take the first right and clear trash to Zardeth of the Black Claw. His sanity draining abilities are a Rain of Fire AOE and Unstable Servant adds that explode after a short time, so position appropriately to deal with each spell. The 4 other portal keepers are Shadow Priest, Faceless, and Greater Void Elemental adds that the player has fought before. Be aware that there is also a required Boundless Corruption mini-boss that patrols near the central tower so try to clear everything before engaging it. Move out of the random AOEs that appear and dodge the frontal Chaos Breath when it begins casting.
After closing all the portals, Magister Umbric will appear inside the tower. He will cast sanity-draining Entropic Missiles or Tainted Polymorph, but the polymorph should be prioritized. Twice during the fight after depleting enough health, Umbric will teleport to the other side of the room and unleash a Frozen Storm that only stops once the player gets close enough. Use an orb before engaging Umbric to negate the first missile cast and quickly push into his first teleport where some classes such as warriors can easily follow him. Note that CC immunities will also stop the polymorph and pets can stop the Frozen Storm as well.
While Alleria has her own Darkened Sky and Void Eruption AOEs, she also gains Explosive Ordinance, Chains of Servitude, Tainted Polymorph, and an Eye of Chaos add. For many melee classes, the fight will mainly be spent on avoiding each spell rather than DPSing the boss. The player should pop a sanity orb, haste drums, and major cooldowns when pulling Alleria to burst as much of her HP while ignoring the sanity-draining mechanics. Otherwise, make use of the pillars inside the Cathedral to line-of-sight her abilities and force her to move towards the player. Eventually Alleria will fall, awarding World of Warcraft players with the Mad World achievement and ‘the Faceless One’ title forever.
