Ghost of Tsushima is an open-world game set on the island of Tsushima and it’s one of the best games to platinum. Sucker Punch doesn’t make the player do anything too tedious like collect 100 feathers or replay the game on the hardest difficulty. Trophy hunting in Ghost Of Tsushima is about fun, not the grind.
Ghost of Tsushima trophy hunting is highly recommended because it engrosses the player with the beautiful world and it guides them to a deeper playthrough. There are a few trophies that need some guidance, especially the hidden trophies, which require specific actions. There are also some strategies that make trophy hunting easier and more fun.
11 Avoid The Map…At Times
When asked about how Ghost of Tsushima innovates the open-world formula, Nate Fox, the game director, answered with the game’s immersive gameplay. Specifically, he talked about the wind system and the ability to discover things naturally. Some of the best moments from Ghost Of Tsushima involve avoiding the map and accomplishing objectives by wandering around the world.
A large majority of the trophies involved completing the side content like fox dens and bamboo strikes. These can be more fun if you don’t treat them like a checklist. Of course, the map will be helpful for a 100 percent playthrough but the game may be more enjoyable if you don’t rely on it fully.
10 Equip Traveler’s Gear In Towns And Camps
Several trophies in Ghost of Tsushima involve finding collectibles like Mongol Artifacts and Sashimono Banners. Luckily, the platinum does not require a player to find all of the collectibles — only a certain amount of each one. There are 50 Mongol Artifacts, but the trophy unlocks after finding 20. The easiest way to find collectibles is to wear the Traveler’s Gear in towns and camps. The controller will vibrate when you are close to a collectible, making them easy to find. Most of the collectibles are located in towns, not in the wilderness. By doing this, you can find all of them easily as you progress through the storyline.
9 Finish Side Content In Sections
The island of Tsushima has three sections. The easiest way to get the platinum is to find collectibles and finish side content on the way to different missions. It’s a good strategy to finish all the content of one section before moving to the next one. When you get to the end of Act 1, for example, finish all the content in that section. If you’re productive in between missions then it shouldn’t take long to find all those question marks.
8 Buy The Perfect Parry Early
There is a trophy to kill twenty enemies with a perfect parry counter-attack. Perfect parry is the first skill unlocked under the deflection skill tree.
The trophy will unlock naturally while playing through the game — as long as you get the skill early. The timing for the parry can be difficult and failing will result in some damage. A perfect parry can be executed by hitting L1 right before a strike makes contact.
7 Shoot A Scared Mongol
Jin Sakai becomes a legend among Tsushima as he transforms into the ghost. Mongols start dying mysteriously, people are saved and land is taken back. The ghost becomes famous, he’s like Batman, a man that elicits fear among enemies. When the player progresses through the story, the Mongols will run away in fear after they see the Ghost in action. All you have to do is shoot an arrow at the fleeing Mongol to unlock one of Ghost of Tsushima’s hidden trophies.
6 Master Stand-Off Timing
Stand-offs can be one of the most annoying parts of the game. If you’re successful then Jin will look like a fully-realized samurai and combat encounters will go by a lot faster. There’s a trophy to kill five enemies in a standoff, which can be difficult without practice. Simply unlocking the 5 kill technique can take some work as well.
First of all, you must upgrade the stand-off streak in the evolving tactics upgrade tree. After that, you must unlock the Clan Sakai armor by progressing the main story. Lastly, the armor must be upgraded all the way via supplies scattered across the map. By the time you do all of this, you may be done with the main campaign. Don’t worry, simply, go to the starting area and roam around until you find a pack of Mongols.
5 Always Pick Up Supplies
Supplies are needed to upgrade weapons and armor. One trophy requires the player to fully upgrade the katana. Upgrading can be a simple task if you always keep an eye out for supplies. There is not an over-encumbered system in Ghost of Tsushima so pick up supplies anytime you see some. This will go a long way in making Jin’s weapons stronger and completing trophies easily.
4 Kill A Mongol Via Fall Damage
Another hidden trophy requires Jin to kill an enemy by knocking them off a roof, mountain, lighthouse, or any high point. The typhoon kick unlocked through the wind stance, is the best way to do this. The charge upgrade, through the evasion tree, will also work. It’s best to do this as soon as you acquire one of these upgrades instead of in the endgame. There will be more enemies and more opportunities if you fail to kill someone with fall damage. Lighthouses are tall enough to ensure death via fall. Simply, lure a Mongol up and send them violently back down.
3 Dress Up As Sly Cooper
One of the cheekiest trophies has Jin dressing up as Sucker Punch’s earliest mascot — Sly Cooper. This one requires some work but it’s not too difficult. First, complete the Mystic Tale: The Unbreakable Gosaku, which opens in Act 2 and requires liberating several villages from Mongols.
This unlocks the Gosaku armor, equip it and color it with the Ocean’s Guardian armor dye, any merchant within act 2 and 3 can sell the dye. Secondly, find a headband on top of the Jogaku Temple. A friendly bird will likely lead you to it and you’ll use the grappling hook to reach the top. Lastly, find the pillar of armor at the uppermost peninsula to grab the Sly Tanuki sword. Equip all this item and the trophy will unlock.
2 Honor The Dead
Spoilers ahead! About halfway through the game, a character meets his demise. Taka is killed by the Khan after he bravely helped Jin on a mission. His grave site will be marked on the map after completing the emotional mission. Revisit the grave and play “Lament of the Storm” with the flute. The player must find the chirping crickets to unlock this song. They can be found in cemeteries scattered throughout the map. Once again, the Traveler’s gear will aide in their freedom.
1 Keep An Eye Out For Hidden Altars
The hidden alters are one of the most miscible trophies in the game since they don’t show up on the map. As you proceed with Jin’s journey, look out for signposts with an image of a bowing man. Simply, bow in front of them, by swiping down on the touchpad, and a natural event will occur. Fish will jump out of the water, fireflies will swarm around you, or flower pedals will swirl in the air. There are only 10 of these and they can be found near bodies of water, pillars of honor, and cemeteries. If you finish the game and haven’t found all of them, then there is no shame in using a guide.
