While the Call of Duty Alpha hasn’t been out long, many players are already sharing their opinions on various aspects of the game, including the power of the sniper rifles currently available. There are only two sniper rifles that players can use in Black Ops Cold War, and when the players’ conversations centered on the speed of scope in’s and the weapons’ mobility, many seem to agree that the rifles are too powerful. One Treyarch dev took to Twitter to address these fans’ concerns.

Treyarch Lead Designer Tony Flame confirmed fans’ suspicions were correct, and that these weapons are currently more powerful than they have been in previous Call of Duty titles. According to Flame, balance changes for sniper rifles will be put in place when the Beta game releases based on the metrics that will come from this weekend. The developer said snipers were initially buffed to figure out how players will deal with the mechanics in the Black Ops Cold War setting, that way they can adjust the weapons accordingly.

While players aren’t certain where snipers will fit into this new game’s meta, many are relieved to hear there will be changes in the future. Some players said they appreciate the approach Treyarch is taking to the weapon class as well. Some who try to perform tricks with these weapons may be disappointed, but these changes may create a more enjoyable atmosphere across the board.

With the Call of Duty Beta release coming next month and the full game releasing in November, Treyarch is making full use of the Alpha to bring players a finely-tuned game and give them more to look forward to with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set to release on November 13 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
