Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time Launch Trailer Shows Off Polar Bear Riding and More

Picking up where Crash Bandicoot: Warped left off, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time looks to be an excellent successor to Naughty Dog‘s heralded trilogy of games. Not only will it see Crash, Coco, Neo Cortex, and more return for a new time-bending adventure, but it’ll also bring the staple gameplay of the original trilogy back to the forefront of the franchise.

With the game set to debut on PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 2, fans are ever closer to finally getting their hands on Crash’s newest adventure, with the game just over a week away. With that in mind, it seems Activision has seen fit to give players another taste of what they can expect when the beloved Bandicoot returns to screens, dropping a launch trailer filled with closer looks at the game’s biggest features.

As has been shown a lot in the buildup to the game’s release, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time‘s newest trailer puts a lot of emphasis on the idea of magical masks, with tons of new gameplay footage showing how the items work. The time mask that’s been prevalent in a lot of pre-release gameplay footage is up first, with Coco using the item’s abilities to cross over a precarious gap on moving stone platforms. Crash, on the other hand, dons the gravity mask, using it to flip upside down and traverse across some hanging vents. Meanwhile, Coco goes on to equip the phase mask, managing to teleport fire jets out of existence as she swings through them on a rope and Crash uses the dark matter mask, firing powerful purple projectiles at foes.

The trailer also shows off some of the other characters available to play in the game, with Neo Cortex briefly showcased as well as the freshly re-designed Tawna and the gun-toting Dingodile. The footage also shows off the new Inverted Mode, which allows players to replay a section with a new filter or art style and mirrored obstacles. Included is a level that’s slowly revealed through a pulsating sonic effect, a level featuring a dinosaur Crash Bandicoot, and an underwater city that seems to significantly slow down jump speed.

The trailer is capped off with two nostalgia-heavy reveals firmly for fans. The first sees Crash once again ride his trusty steed Polar, harkening back to the Polar Bear riding sequences of Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes BackThe second unveils a classic Crash Bandicoot’s skin is in the game, standing as a fun callback to the character’s previous appearance. The game looks like a lot of fun and, luckily, fans won’t have to wait long to finally play it.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is available for PS4 and Xbox One on October 2.
