Hey, Look, It’s a New Picture of Batman From the Snyder Cut

At this point the Snyder Cut of Justice League might just be one of the most anticipated and frequently teased superhero movie releases of all time. As Snyder and friends continue to release teaser after teaser, one could be forgiven for thinking they’re releasing an entirely new movie, rather than a director’s cut of a film many people have seen. The latest peek at the movie comes, once again, from Snyder himself as he has let another picture of Ben Affleck suited up as the caped crusader out into the wild.

It’s an interesting photo, being in black and white with Batman appearing by himself on what seems to be a rainy rooftop. More interesting however, is what Snyder had to say about everyone’s favorite detective. “Batman is all of us… he is our rage at injustice… he stands alone, as we all wish we could, in the face of a corrupt system which wishes to oppress and exploit… he is that broken child, searching the dark alleys of the human soul to bring balance to the world.”

Whether audiences think that sounds awesome or melodramatic, it’s a pretty clear window into how Snyder views the character, and gives a little insight into how he was portrayed by the director and why. That said, those who admire Snyder’s particular vision may be feeling melancholy about teases like this, particularly with the knowledge that the director’s cut of Justice League may very well be the last time Snyder brings his twist on these characters to the silver screen, or at least the HBO Max screen.

It won’t be the last rodeo for Affleck as Batman, however, as it’s already been confirmed that the actor will return for the upcoming Flash movie, despite Warner Bros. already having a film in production featuring Robert Pattinson as a younger Batman. It would seem both films are chugging along at a decent pace, despite many bumps in the road, and to top it off, there are a handful of animated Batman films planned as well for the next couple years, and at least one game. Any way folks look at it, it’s gonna be a pretty good few years for Batman.
