Mental Health Charity Safe in our World is thinking outside the box to raise funds for its admirable cause, auctioning off a custom Nintendo Switch Lite. The goal of this auction is to raise money in an effort to normalize mental health. This applies to the way the topic is approached in the video game industry and by the rest of the world, and should help those struggling with mental health issues feel more safe to reach out for help.
This particular Nintendo Switch is linked to one Tim Bergling, better known as DJ Avicii, who tragically committed suicide back in 2018. Hello There Games’ Avicii Invector sees players follow a pilot named Stella as she explores various planets to the tune of Avicii’s music. What makes this game so special is that, following Avicii’s death, Hello There Games pledged to donate all proceeds from the game to the Tim Bergling Foundation.
This foundation urges the world to recognize suicide as a global health emergency and to take more preventative actions towards it. As if purchasing Avicii Invector wasn’t ethical enough, Safe in our World is doubling down on this by raffling off this unique, custom Nintendo Switch Lite. The design features a striking white color with the game’s logo printed proudly on the back.
Interested players can make a $7 donation, earning themselves one entry to the prize draw for the Switch Lite. Of course, all the proceeds from these donations will go to helping Safe in our World create initiatives that spread awareness and provide resources to people struggling with mental health issues, so each dollar is a dollar well spent.
