In Fallout 4, players are able to discover a number of vaults found throughout Boston and its surrounding area. One of these vaults is called Vault 75. Vault 75 has been taken over by the Gunners, meaning players will have to fight their way through it. After fighting through all of the enemies, players can discover some interesting facts about the vault.
Players are able to read through the terminals and notes left around Vault 75. There are also a few rooms that can give players an idea of what the original purpose of the vault was. Players who explore the vault might be shocked about what they discover.
10 Located Under Malden Middle School
Like most vaults found throughout Boston, Vault 75 is located under a (formerly) functioning building. This vault is located underneath Malden Middle School. When the Great War occurred, the students, faculty, and the students’ parents all found refuge in the vault.
It is nice to think that these students and their families had a safe place to go once the war had started. Classmates would be able to stay together, making for a happy time.
9 First Resident’s Parents Were Executed
By reading a few terminals and notes found in Vault 75, the player is able to discover the vault’s dark secret. When the children from Malden Middle School and their parents came to the vault, the students’ parents were executed by vault security.
As if it wasn’t bad enough the world was coming to an end, the children had their parents killed. Players cannot discover the skeletons of any vault resident, but it can be assumed that these students were allowed to grow up and have children of their own.
8 Unworthy Residents Were Killed Off
Reading terminals in the vault reveal that Vault-Tec teamed up with the military to create super soldiers. That means if a resident had any type of issue or was not able to complete the tests, they were killed off. Residents who passed these tests and were deemed fit joined the science team or security forces.
While it sounds like residents born with deformities or mental issues were executed, it could also mean people who failed a test could have been executed. Only the best of the best could live inside of Vault 75.
7 Used as a Training Center By Military
Because residents of Vault 75 were tested to become super soldiers, it is safe to assume there is a training area that can be found. One such area can be found, taking the form of a town.
There are holograms that can be found, which would have been used as target practice for residents of the vault. When the player starts to explore the area, all they will find in Gunners is the simulation.
6 Can Take Part In Combat Simulation
Players who want to test their skills are in luck when they explore Vault 75. They can activate the holograms and shoot through the simulation to try to complete it as fast as possible. Players are able to run and gun through the fake street and buildings to get the best time.
Players can also find a terminal that logs their name and best time on the simulation. The best part is that the terminal will use the name the player selected at the beginning of the game.
5 Can Find Remnants Of Military
As the player explores Vault 75, they can find skeletons in military uniforms. The difference between the skeletons on the surface and these is that children toys and lunchboxes can be found close by. It could be assumed these skeletons were once the residents of Vault 75 as they were trained.
Some skeletons are in obvious spots, such as the Overseer’s office or in the atrium. Others are found hiding behind boxes in the hallways of the vault. Perhaps the children being trained just wanted a little time to themselves.
4 Can Find a Science Bobblehead
Players on the search for the Bobbleheads can find one inside of Vault 75. It is found in the office overlooking the combat area in basement 3. Players will need to find the Vault 75 lab access keycard to access this area.
When the Bobblehead is picked up, players are given a permanent extra guess when hacking a terminal. Players will also be able to display this Bobblehead in their homes using the Bobblehead stand.
3 Cannot Find Vault 75 Jumpsuits
Players who want to collect every vault jumpsuit in the game may be out of luck. There is no way to obtain a Vault 75 jumpsuit through normal means. This makes sense, as it seems like the uniform for the vault was military fatigues.
It is disappointing to not be able to obtain a Vault 75 jumpsuit for display purposes. It seems as though players will have to settle on only having a Vault 81 and Vault 111 jumpsuit for their collection.
2 Enemies Inside Vault May Change
While Gunners are the expected enemies to find in the vault, players might encounter different factions inhabiting the vault. If the player finishes the main quest and depending on who they side with, Synths or the Brotherhood of Steel may act like the enemies of the vault.
Players will still be able to find the corpses of the Gunners, meaning these factions only recently attacked the vault. Depending on what faction inhabits the vault, players might have to put up more of a fight to clear it out.
1 A Reference To Gary
Players are able to find a reference to Vault 108 from Fallout 3. Vault 108 was inhabited by clones of a man named Gary, with the clones only being able to say the word ‘Gary’. While exploring Vault 75, players can find blocks that spell out the name Gary.
These blocks can be found in three locations around the vault — in a residential room in the mezzanine floor, under the open vault door, and in a cabinet in the children’s dorm rooms. It seems like players are not able to escape the memory of Gary. Or who knows, maybe a child was just named Gary in the vault.
