A new character is joining the ever-growing roster for Jump Force. A couple of weeks ago it was revealed that Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho was being added to Jump Force, and now a slick new trailer is showing him off in-game.
Jump Force is a fighting game developed by Spike Chunsoft and published by Bandai Namco. It features a roster of characters from Shonen Jump, a weekly manga magazine that has been running since 1968 in Japan. The characters often go on to be some of the most beloved in manga, anime, and beyond, like Goku, Naruto, and Luffy. Yu Yu Hakusho is a classic that was published in 1990, and Hiei is one of the manga’s main characters.
The newest trailer for Hiei of the Evil Eye shows off his no-prisoners atittude and his Dragon of the Darkness Flame. Hiei possesses super-speed and amazing strength, and is also known to be resistant to elements. He looks like a great addition to the fighting game. Hiei will be added to Jump Force via DLC later this fall for the Xbox One and PS4, but Nintendo Switch owners of Jump Force will have to wait until 2021.
Just like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a love-letter to Nintendo, and even video games in general thanks to additions like Snake, Sonic, and Cloud, Jump Force is a love letter to manga/anime. It’s wonderful that shows like Yu Yu Hakusho are still watchable today via streams online, and video games are also a great way to keep classics like this alive.
Jump Force Deluxe Edition is now available on the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
