Prepping for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne‘s upcoming sunsetting, Capcom has released a new trailer to detail everything coming to the game with the fifth and final free title update. As is implied by the game’s history of introducing new monsters for players to hunt with each title update, this final load of additional content will bring new enemies and Halloween-themed gear.
The new trailer has dropped on the official Monster Hunter YouTube channel, showcasing a the new additions in a quick montage to keep players up to date with a number of previous announcements. Some of this new content has previously been announced through the Capcom website and associated Monster Hunter social media accounts, but the new trailer makes for a solid recap for players.
One of the biggest moments seen in the trailer is a look at the Seliana Fun Fright Fest, this years Halloween themed event that will be taking place from October 15th through November 5th. This latest version of the seasonal festivals that bring all of Monster Hunter World‘s event quests back for a limited time, will also offer the opportunity for players to earn new, spooky armor. Additionally, the players’ Palico, Poogie, and the Handler will also be receiving specially themed outfits, which is another staple of these festivals as they have appeared in the past.
The most exciting thing coming with this update, however, is the addition of the legendary monster Fatalis arriving to Monster Hunter World on October 1st. Fatalis will be coming alongside an arch-tempered version of Iceborne‘s flagship monster, Velkhana, who will now be tougher than ever and give players the chance to unlock a special Gama gear set. Between these new monsters, and the new festival, this final update is shaping up to bring tons of hours to fans, especially considering that Fatalis is expected to be the most difficult challenge players have faced so far.
This title update is somewhat bittersweet for some players, as it is both looking to bring a beloved monster from the overall series to Monster Hunter World as well as establish the beginning of the end for the game. However, with new titles like Monster Hunter Stories 2 and Monster Hunter Rise coming to Switch, it doesn’t look like Capcom is anywhere near finished with the series. It’s yet to be seen if there will be plans for a Monster Hunter World sequel, possibly even on next-gen consoles, but it is likely that a similarly sized title is well within the scope of speculation.
