The immensely-challenging Spelunky 2 is out now, and players are hard at work trying to uncover the variety of secrets contained within this new roguelike. Among those secrets are an assortment of bonus characters, which fans can unlock in a couple of ways as they make their way through Spelunky 2. For those players that wish to earn all of the game’s secret characters, a comprehensive list that details where each of them can be found may be helpful.
To note, a vast majority of the secret characters in the game are unlocked by opening the coffins that can be found throughout Spelunky 2‘s levels. While the secret characters that are earned in this way do not have any distinct gameplay functionality, they do serve as a cosmetic collectible that will allow fans to get even more playtime out of the game.
- Alto Singh: In a coffin after Quillback in 1-4.
- Liz Mutton: In a coffin in 2-1 (Jungle).
- Nekka the Eagle: In a coffin in the Black Market.
- Lise Project: In a coffin in 2-1 (Volcana).
- Coco von Diamonds: In a coffin in Vlad’s Castle.
- Manfred Tunnel: In a coffin in Ankh cave (Olmec’s Lair).

- Dirk Yamoaka: In a coffin in Goliath Frog’s stomach (Sunken City).
- Guy Spelunky: Reach the game’s normal ending.
- Classic Guy: Reach the game’s ending through Sunken City.
As Spelunky 2 players that peruse this list will see, unlocking all of secret characters requires both completing the entire game and exploring every biome along the way. This means that fans will need to pursue the various path splits that are available throughout the title and also visit the Black Market, Vlad’s Castle, and the game’s other sub-worlds.
For those players that are just starting out, this may seem like a truly monumental task. In fact, even getting through Spelunky 2‘s introductory world may seem nigh impossible on a fan’s first handful of runs. However, players that stick with the game should eventually find that they are consistently making progress through Spelunky 2‘s poisons and countless other dangers, and, with patience and practice, they will eventually be able to unlock every one of the secret characters.
Spelunky 2 is available now on PC and PS4.
