Spider-Man: Miles Morales Saves Will Transfer from PS4 to PS5

As one of the PlayStation 5’s big launch titles, Spider-Man Miles Morales has a lot of hype behind it. Insomniac seems focused on keeping players positive on the game, as the studio has officially confirmed that Miles Morales saves will be transferable from the PlayStation 4 version of the game to the PlayStation 5 version.

With players voicing frustration over the PlayStation 5 remaster of the original Spider-Man game not having the cross-save feature, Insomniac making the Miles spinoff cross-save is undeniably a smart idea. Though the original game features a new trophy list and many updated textures and features for the next-gen console, fans still expected the game to allow for saves to be transferred and quickly let Insomniac know how disappointed they were in the decision.

Insomniac posted that pre-orders were available on its official Twitter account earlier today, with a fan quickly replying and asking about cross-saving. Going by the username Soy_la_tech, the player tweeted at Insomniac asking the team about save transfers for Miles Morales and how they could work. The player wants to know if their “progress [will] be transferred” via PlayStation Plus cloud save or if they will need to restart the game on PS5 despite making progress within the PlayStation 4 version. The Insomniac team was quick to reply, confirming that the upgraded next-gen version of Miles Morales will indeed let gamers play their PS4 saves.

Insomniac states that it will share more details of how the save transfer will work “closer to launch,” possibly indicating that the PS Plus cloud save feature mentioned by Soy_la_tech will not be the way to transfer the Spider-Man Miles Morales saves. This is good news for those excited for the project and wanting to play it before grabbing a PS5, though there will surely be more Spidey memes made regarding Miles Morales having cross-save when the original game does not.

Miles Morales is going to be a big download, coming in at 50 GB on PlayStation 5 with the original game’s remaster and 52 GB on the PlayStation 4. Though the size is certainly going to require some players to free up hard drive space, it should be a good sign for fans still worried that Miles Morales will be a super quick game as opposed to a slightly shorter adventure. With the game just over a month away from release, Insomniac sharing the good news about cross-saves could not come at a better time.

With the co-creator of the Miles Morales character recently sharing his praise for the game, Spidey fans should be pleased with more than just cross-saves when the game launches this November for PlayStation consoles.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be available November 12th on PS4 and PS5.
