Dead By Daylight is unique in that players can directly jump right into gameplay without even exploring the backgrounds of the characters that they play as. While Dead By Daylight is definitely more gameplay driven, there is a rich and detailed lore that exists following both the survivors and killers, and how they ended up in the Entity’s Realm.

While the personality of each survivor can be inferred based on their default perks and appearances, the game does offer background information on each survivor and where they come from. You may be surprised at some of the traits and details about your go-to survivors.

10 David King Was Involved in Fight Clubs

It’s no surprise based on David King’s aggressive playstyle and appearance that he has a rough background. Rebellious from the time he was a child, David went on to get involved in a lot of trouble, even so far as to be a known regular in underground fight clubs. This probably explains the gnarly scar on his face.

9 Dwight Got Drunk With His Boss The Night Before Disappearing

Dwight is consistently described as being a bit of the punching bag among his social circles. He always appears a bit nervous, geeky, and definitely a bit socially awkward. Because of this, it’s interestingly noted that the night before Dwight disappeared into the Fog, he was with his boss and coworkers in the woods, taking a swig of moonshine.

It seems out of character for Dwight to be involved in a party-scene like that, and a strange coincidence that right after is when he ended up in the Entity’s Realm.

8 Meg Had An Athletic Scholarship to College

Just based on her default outfit, it’s obvious that Meg was a sporty kid in school. This is even further evident with her perks centered around mobility, such as Sprint Burst. Meg was so athletically inclined that she actually had received an athletic scholarship to college, but sadly, had to turn it down to take care of her mother, who had fallen ill.

7 Feng Min Was Huge in Esports

A fan favorite, Feng Min is noted to have been hugely invested in video games from the time she was a young child. Unfortunately, her parents were concerned with her obsession, and tried to pull the plug on her gaming outlets.

Upon leaving her family, she took up video gaming competitively, and became well known in the Esports community under the handle, “Shining Lion.”

6 Jane Romero Had Her Own TV Show

Jane is actually a celebrity among the Dead By Daylight cast. As the daughter of a famous actress, Jane felt an urge to follow in her mother’s footsteps, working her way up from being a radio-star personality, to eventually having her own talk-show, aptly titled, “The Jane Romero Show.”

5 Felix Was An Architectural Prodigy

As the scion of a deeply respected pair of parents with well-established connections, Felix had the privilege of traveling the world to explore many different countries and cultures from an early age.

Though socially awkward, preferring the company of books to people, he demonstrated prowess in architectural sensibilities, and was widely looked upon as a prodigy. Unfortunately, Felix was the victim of imposter syndrome, and couldn’t quite move past his father’s mysterious disappearance.

4 Jake Lived Off of the Grid

Jake is a bit of a mystery in comparison to the other survivors, with not much details of his background being provided to players initially. What is revealed, however, is that Jake originally came from wealth, but the pressure put upon him by his family to be successful had driven him away and caused him to drop out of school and live off of the grid in the woods. This eventually led to his disappearance.

3 Kate Was a Traveling Folk Musician

Kate Tenson is essentially the Taylor Swift of the Dead By Daylight cast, picking up on guitar from an early age and making a career out of her songwriting and musical talent.

She won countless music competitions and talent shows, and traveled around in her truck to share her music and find a way to connect with other people. She was ensnared by the Entity one fateful day in the woods as she was writing music.

2 Claudette Was Known For Giving Botany Advice Online

With perks that emphasize knowledge of medicinal practices, Claudette is a big science nerd with a disposition to botany. Similar to Felix, Claudette’s inclination towards the pursuit of knowledge and science made her a bit socially awkward, but she found her niche in online chat forums, becoming known as “Science Girl” online. She was known to be missing after she abruptly stopped replying to the friends she had made online.

1 Zarina Was An Independent Producer and Filmmaker

Zarina developed an interest in storytelling early on in life. Grappling with the two unique cultural identities that she identified with growing up in a Lebanese household while living in New York City, she enjoyed interviewing people to learn and help tell their own stories and backgrounds. After experiencing injustices in her life, including witnessing her father being murdered, she took a turn towards investigative journalism in pursuit of justice.
