Since launch, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has had a deal with PlayStation so that users on PS4 can get their hands on some exclusive content not available on PC or Xbox. That trend continues with the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 6 update, which includes a variety of PS4-exclusive content.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 6 PS4-exclusive content includes a new Combat Pack that is exclusive to PlayStation Plus subscribers on PS4. The bundle includes an Epic Rodion “Red Death” skin, Epic “Shivvie” melee weapon, Epic “Slipshod” handgun weapon blueprint, Epic “Ball and Chain” charm, Epic “Don’t Back Down” calling card, Epic “Gulag” emblem, Epic “Inside Job” sticker, and a 60 minute double XP token. Modern Warfare PS4 players can also unlock the Tide Pool blueprint for the HDR sniper rifle, though they have to complete a five-step mission to do so.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players on PS4 can also enjoy limited-time exclusive access to the new Hovec Sawmill map for Survival mode. The Hovec Sawmill map, and all the other Survival mode maps, will remain exclusive to PS4 players until Survival mode is released for PC and Xbox One on October 1. Survival mode’s PS4 exclusivity was a huge source of criticism for the game at launch, so it’s safe to say many fans will be happy to see it finally make its way to other platforms.
With Survival mode coming to other platforms, it seems as though the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare PS4 exclusivity content is nearly over. However, it seems likely that the exclusivity will extend to the upcoming Black Ops Cold War. In fact, the Black Ops Cold War Alpha was exclusive to PS4, and PS4 gamers also have early access to the upcoming multiplayer beta that is supposed to kick off within the next few weeks.
It will be interesting to see just how extensive the Black Ops Cold War PS4 exclusive content is. It’s possible it will mainly consist of cosmetic content, but it’s also possible that a game mode will be locked behind an exclusivity wall. This would likely upset fans, similarly to how many reacted negatively to the Survival mode PS4 exclusivity, but time will tell.
The next Black Ops Cold War update will focus on Zombies mode, so maybe PS4 gamers will get some exclusive content in that. Fans will just need to tune in to the Black Ops Cold War Zombies reveal stream to learn more information.
