Fortnite has another set of challenges for players this week as the Marvel-themed crossover event continues into Chapter 2, Season 4, Week 6. One of these challenges is to eat a legendary fish during a game.
Fishing was added to Fortnite about a year ago, but until recently, all fish had the same rarity level. Now, fish are ranked from gray common fish to the golden mythic fish, just like loot and weapons. Each type of fish gives a different variety of health amounts or boosts, and the legendary versions have some pretty varied effects.
The legendary fish are fairly rare, about a 1% drop rate, but not as rare as some of the mythic fish like the Vendetta Flopper in Fortnite. Here is a list of the fish that can be legendary:
- Flopper fish: gives health
- Slurpfish: gives health
- Spicy Fish: gives health and temporary speed boost
- Hop Floppers: lets players jump higher
- Jellyfish: gives health
- Shieldfish: gives shield
- Thermal Fish: player can see through walls after eating
- Small Fry: gives health
The legendary and mythic versions of these fish will have the gold-yellow or gold-orange headers, just like legendary and mythic items in Fortnite do.
Fishing rods can be found in barrels near fishing locations, like the Authority or Sweaty Sands. Finding a pro fishing rod in a barrel will help to increase the drop rate of legendary fish; it will make fishing up a legendary fish easier, but it’s not required for this challenge. If players are having a hard time fishing up a legendary, they can upgrade their regular fishing rod at an Upgrade Bench at Tony Stark’s workshop where players had to emote as Tony Stark back in August.
There are fishing spots all over the map in Fortnite. Look for water near the Authority for the best fishing spots, but any watery place will do. Different kinds of fish can be found in different kinds of locations, like Purple Jellyfish can only be found in coastal waters, but legendary fish can be found pretty much everywhere on the map.
Once players have a fish, all they have to do is eat it complete the challenge. Thankfully, the challenge only specifies that players have to eat the fish, not catch it. So if a player is having a hard time grabbing a fish, teammates can give them any spare legendary fish they may have in their inventory. Once that fish is eaten and the challenge completed, players should make sure to unlock the new Wolverine skin and complete the other Marvel-themed challenges.
Fortnite is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
