Borderlands 3: How to Get the King’s Call Legendary Pistol

Borderlands 3‘s King’s Call legendary pistol is an interesting weapon that some players will certainly want to add to their arsenals. In particular, the King’s Call may appeal to those fans that are focusing their Borderlands 3 builds around scoring critical hits, as indeed the weapon provides bonuses for landing them. Obtaining this Jakobs-manufactured gun does require some amount of farming, though, and players that are on the hunt for the weapon may want more details about where it comes from.

The most-reliable source for the King’s Call in Borderlands 3 is none other than Tyreen the Destroyer, the final boss in the base game. Players will encounter this boss in Destroyer’s Rift on Pandora during the Divine Retribution mission, and they will likely need to kill it multiple times before earning the weapon of interest. That said, Tyreen does have an increased chance to drop several other legendary weapons, which means that even kills that do not bear the King’s Call can be fruitful.

More specifically, the Queen’s Call legendary pistol and the B*tch legendary submachine gun both come from this Borderlands 3 boss, and these weapons may act as suitable consolation prizes when the King’s Call does not drop. For those players that are curious, the only difference between the Queen’s Call and the King’s Call is that they come in different elemental damage types and the B*tch is notable for its high rate of fire.

Once a player has obtained the King’s Call, they may have some questions about how to use it most effectively, and critical hits are the key. This means that fans will need to aim very precisely if they want to maximize their damage with this legendary pistol in Borderlands 3, and coupling it with FL4K’s Fade Away ability is advisable. Additionally, Amara players may find her Deep Well ability particularly useful when used alongside the King’s Call, as it will grant an additional shot per magazine.

While the King’s Call may no longer be one of the best legendary weapons in Borderlands 3, it is still a reasonable option for fans that are in the market for a pistol. Before players start farming Tyreen, though, they may want to give the Beacon, Light Show, and Prompt Critical a look, as those pistols tend to be regarded more highly than the King’s Call at this stage of the game. However, those weapons are all found in Borderlands 3 DLC, and they are thus not available to fans that only have the base game.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are in development.
