Infinity Ward Proves Update On Call of Duty: Modern Warfare AS VAL Issue

Season 6 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare brought a ton of new content for players to enjoy including new maps, modes, operators, and weapons. This season, players can get their hands on two powerful weapons in the battle pass, the SP-R208 bolt action sniper rifle and the AS VAL assault rifle. However, for all of the new content, bugs and issues have again surfaced, threatening to undermine the game’s online balance.

One of the biggest issues that has been making the rounds since the start of Season 6 belongs to the AS VAL, a brand new assault rifle. Once unlocked at tier 31 of the battle pass, players have been playing around with the various attachments in an effort to discover the most optimal loadout. On its own, the gun has a higher wall penetration rating than most guns but when players add in the subsonic rounds, the gun can basically ignore walls altogether for some seriously ridiculous kills.

Since its arrival, there has seemingly been no shortage of clips posted to social media of players either using the gun to pull off moves that shouldn’t exist or are on the receiving end of a subsonic round from an enemy player. Clips of players getting shot through an entire house with no drop or damage reduction to others getting triple kills killing enemies right from spawn. Needless to say, the AS VAL is causing havoc in game right now and players suspect this isn’t what Infinity Ward was planning when it introduced this weapon to the game.

Thankfully, Infinity Ward is now taking action, confirming that the weapon has an issue and doing things the developer didn’t intend inside of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. On Friday, the studio updated its public Trello Board with an issue specific to the AS VAL. While the description doesn’t indicate if this is a bug or perhaps an attachment that has been too powerful, the Subsonic rounds are going to be adjusted in some capacity as the bullets shouldn’t be able to penetrate multiple walls. Infinity Ward is planning a fix in a future update, but no definitive date has been revealed as of yet.

Weapon troubles aren’t the only issues currently facing the game. Players have run into a number of other odd issues and bugs since the start of season 6 last week. Not only is the community named Demon Glitch back, making picked up weapons appear like a jagged mess, players have begun to report the game crashing and even being able to teleport out of the Gulag before a match begins. Its clear that Infinity Ward has its hands full as it attempts to squash these bugs in the weeks to come.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
