The Witcher 3: 5 Video Game Villains Yennefer Could Defeat (& 5 She Would Lose To)

Within the world of The Witcher, Yennefer of Vengerberg is one of the most powerful sorceresses to exist. Her power exceeds many other magic users and her intelligence makes her an excellent leader. It’s easy to admit that there are few enemies within the Witcher universe that could totally overpower the raven-haired woman.

However, when looking outside of Yennefer’s franchise and at other video game villains, it is clear that there are game antagonists with unfathomable, overwhelming power. Many of these villains could definitely be taken out by Yennefer, but there are others that she might just not be able to fend off.

10 She Could Defeat: Dracula (Castlevania)

Considering vampires exist in The Witcher universe, Yennefer has met vampires before. Though the Higher Vampires in her world may differ a bit from the Castlevania world, she would already have some knowledge of the creature before her battle. Dracula is very powerful and can take down his enemies in his own game, but Yennefer’s raw strength and maxed out magical abilities could undoubtedly take the boss down.

9 She Couldn’t Defeat: Kefka (Final Fantasy 6)

Yennefer of Vengerberg can defeat a wide variety of powerful beings, from sorcerers to giant, magical creatures. However, Yenn has never exactly faced a god before. Kefka’s mind was completely corrupted by the use of magic, leading him to take control of the Warring Triad to therefore become the god of magic. He craves destruction and death and uses his insane magical power to get it. Yenn might be able to do some minor damage on this all-powerful being, but not enough to take him down.

8 She Could Defeat: Dr. Robotnik (Sonic the Hedgehog)

Though Dr. Robotnik uses his vast intellect and engineering abilities to create machines and technology to fight against the protagonists of the story, his physical strength in a fight isn’t as super.

Yennefer would overwhelm the mad inventor with her fiery blasts, magical shields, and transformational abilities. She could probably also shortcircuit his machines by manipulating electricity or energy when in battle with him.

7 She Couldn’t Defeat: Ganon (Legend of Zelda)

In the Legend of Zelda franchise, Ganon is continuously reincarnated in different forms of evil, and Zelda and Link are the only one’s who can end him. No matter what new world they live in, Ganon always has a presence in it, representing the constant looming evil that will always exist in the world. He is an entity that can never die, he can just be locked away or banished, and he will always reappear as a new, dangerous form in another timeline. Though Yennefer is strong, without the power that Link and Zelda have, she would likely not be able to take down the supernatural force that is Ganon.

6 She Could Defeat: Bowser (Super Mario)

The power difference between Yennefer and Bowser is pretty easy to see. Though the big, moody villain is the baddest there is in the Super Mario world, he stands no match against one of the most powerful and intelligent sorceresses. Yenn could easily take Bowser down in a single blow with no issue, using one of her many offensive magical attacks. Considering Mario just has to hop on his head a couple of times to take him out, Yenn could blow the bad guy to smithereens with the snap of her fingers.

5 She Couldn’t Defeat: Sephiroth (Final Fantasy 7)

It’s not a stretch to claim that Sephiroth is one of the most powerful video game villains of all time, and very few characters could actually take him down. He has the ability and the drive to end the entire world, with insane, nearly god-like powers.

Without help from Cloud and his friends, Yennefer would not be able to take down the evil warrior on her own. His magical and physical strength easily overpower hers, and he could defeat her in a one-on-one battle.

4 She Could Defeat: M. Bison (Street Fighter)

M. Bison has done some pretty awful things in his franchise, from brainwashing protagonists to making his own team of teenage assassins, all with his long-cultivated powers and fighting skills. He is strong and clever, but not as much so as Yennefer of Vengerberg. She has a large arsenal of magical attacks that could trap and implode M. Bison in a pretty action-packed battle. Though the sorceress lacks in hand-to-hand combat, her long-range attacks would be powerful enough to overtake the evil villain and put an end to his terror.

3 She Couldn’t Defeat: The Covenant (Halo)

If she were up against a few of the aliens in the Halo series at a time, Yennefer could definitely take them down. However, if faced with armies of hundreds of thousands of Covenant, with their new technology and advanced vehicles and weapons, Yennefer would be overpowered. She is very headstrong and tough, but being thrown into a futuristic world that doesn’t rely on magic to be powerful, Yenn would definitely face some serious setbacks.

2 She Could Defeat: GLaDOS (Portal)

Once again, being placed in a world that is set far into the future with incredible technology that Yenn couldn’t even begin to imagine, Yennefer might struggle to keep up with what is happening around her.

However, GLaDOS couldn’t really fight back when Yennefer sets off one of her deadly fire blasts to blow up the entire Aperture Science facility. Any earth-shattering explosion or energy-twisting shock that Yenn would expel onto the facility would take out GLaDOS in an instant, wrecking her hard drive and various equipment.

1 She Couldn’t Defeat: Dormin (Shadow of the Colossus)

Dormin is the main antagonist of Shadow of the Colossus due to its clever manipulation skills, intellect, and pure strength. Dormin has the ability to return the soul of Mono back to her body, inferring that it is the embodiment of Death itself. Dormin is locked away in the Forbidden Lands in the story in order to keep the powers of Death in check. Yennefer is a very strong sorceress, but no one can face Death and truly conquer it. She would possibly be able to keep Dormin at bay and help seal it away again, but not defeat it.
