In the build-up to Halloween, many are likely wondering what new games they can get their hands on to truly celebrate the spookiest time of the year. In terms of new releases, players will be getting their fair share of new horror titles, including Amnesia: Rebirth, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope, and Remothered: Broken Porcelain.
However, for those looking to play some classic horror releases, PlayStation Now has them covered, with Sony announcing today that the service has added several new games in time for Halloween. Included in the selection is Day’s Gone, Friday the 13th, MediEvil, Trine 4, and RAD.
The biggest addition of the bunch is Day’s Gone, with Sony Bend’s open-world zombie action-survival game standing as one of the biggest blockbusters of the generation. Although it was met with a somewhat mixed reception, it’s gone on to build a pretty dedicated fanbase, with its huge world, motorcycle traversal, and terrifying undead antagonists making for a surprisingly engaging take on the zombie genre. More importantly, many of its battles against its widely-touted zombie hordes are grippingly tense, making it a superb choice for some creepy Halloween evening fun.
Friday the 13th is also a huge get for PlayStation Now audiences, with the multiplayer experience looking to resurrect the same slasher-movie horror that made its source material so iconic. Meanwhile, MediEvil joined the bandwagon of lovingly recreated remakes, bringing the 1998 cult classic back to screens in a stunning 2019 reimagining. It sports a lot of kid-friendly Halloween fun too, making it a good choice for those looking for a less outwardly terrifying experience to get stuck into during the month’s festivities.
RAD and Trine 4 are a perfect choice for those less fussed about getting into the Halloween spirit, with the former being a stylish roguelike and the latter a puzzle-platformer. Both games were fairly well-received at launch and round out this month’s PS Now roster nicely. With the selection of new games landing very soon, two currently featured titles will need to get the boot, with Watch Dogs 2 and Just Cause 4 leaving the service.
On the PlayStation Plus side of things, subscribers will get access to two games this month, with the additions being Vampyr and Need for Speed: Payback. It looks like the two services will deliver some huge releases this month, with a lot of frightening fun for those prepping for Halloween as well as some more traditional offerings.
