Players of Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends seem to always have a lot to look forward to on days where the game receives updates. While patches like the new Aftermarket event and crossplay update launched today are big for the community, they’ve also become major events for dataminers who want to give players a sneak peek for what’s to come in the future. For example, today players were treated to information regarding skins that will come as part of the game’s upcoming Halloween event.
Reliable Apex Legends dataminer Shurgtal took to Twitter today showing off the new Halloween skins that will likely be added in an update on October 22. These skins seem to be incredibly similar to the ones players saw last Halloween season with new color variations. The notable exception to this rule is the Banshee Queen Loba skin, as she wasn’t added to the game until this past May.
Along with these Halloween skins, Apex Legends players can also look forward to a new LTM called Shadow Royale. According to dataminer Biast12, the new Shadow Royale mode will be similar to last year’s Shadowfall mode but with new changes. Rather than the mode being Shadows versus alive players, it will now be closer to a regular match of Apex Legends, but with players returning as Shadows to help their alive squad mates win the match. Shadows will also be updated with a more dynamic skill set, like being able to regenerate health.
New data from the Apex Legends update didn’t stop there, however. According to Biast12, data for a new legend named Horizon was also discovered within the patch. Biast12 went on to say that this coding for Horizon went against they’re previous predictions of the next legend being Valk. No information is currently known about what Horizon’s abilities will be, but it looks like players might find out sooner rather than later with how prevalent she’s featured.
If in-game items weren’t enough, Biast12 provided some new information on the upcoming Nintendo Switch version of the game in their data deep dive. While Respawn Entertainment was recently tight-lipped when it came to an update on the Switch version’s development, Biast12 was able to find a line of code that would display an error message if a connection to Nintendo Online Service wasn’t found. While this doesn’t help players looking for a firm release date, this information could be a clue that the version could be closer than anticipated.
Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version currently in development.
